Selçuklu Devleti’nin ataerkil yapıya sahip olması, toplumda kadınların varlığını ikinci planda bırakmamış aksine eş değer kılmıştır. Toplumun yarısını meydana getiren kadınların toplum üzerindeki varlıklarını görmezden gelmek mümkün değildir. Selçuklu Devleti’nin kadınlara verdiği önem Türk tarihinde kadınların konumunu ve itibarını artırmıştır. Şüphesiz bu gelenek İslamiyet öncesi Türk geleneğinin bir tezahürüdür. İslamiyetle birlikte bu geleneğin en çarpıcı örneğini Tuğrul Bey’in eşi Altuncan Hatun’da görmekteyiz. Selçuklu devleti bünyesinde itibarlı, sözü dinlenen bir hatun olmuştur. Bu itibarın sebebi, Altuncan Hatun’un devleti ayakta tutmak için vermiş olduğu mücadeleler ve Selçuklu idaresine katmış olduğu faaliyetlerin bir yansımasıdır. Biz de bu çalışmamızda, Altuncan Hatun’un Büyük Selçuklu Devleti’nin devletleşme sürecindeyken Tuğrul Bey’in üvey kardeşi İbrahim Yınal tarafından çıkarılan isyan karşısında askeri ve siyasi kararlılığı neticesinde aldığı tavrı somut örneğiyle aktarmaya çalışacağız. Bu hassasiyet ile Selçuklu Devleti’ni muhtemel çöküşten kurtaran Altuncan Hatun’un askeri dehası ve vatan kutsiyetinin vermiş olduğu azim ile devletin içinde bulunduğu siyasi buhrandan devletin geleceğini kurtarmıştır. Çalışmamızda Selçuklu Devleti’nin bu tehlike karşısındaki durumunu aktarmak ve Altuncan Hatun’un bu sırada yapmış olduğu fedakârlığı izah etmek, günümüze örnek teşkil etmesi adına önemli katkı sağlayacağını ümit ediyoruz.Since the establishment of the Great Seljuk State (1040-1157), it is possible to feel the existence of women in social and political life. The patriarchal structure of the Seljuk State did not leave the presence of women in society in the background, making it equivalent. It is not possible to ignore the existence of women who make up half of the society. The importance given to women by the Seljuk State increased the position and reputation of women in Turkish history. This tradition is, of course, a manifestation of the pre-Islamic Turkish tradition. Along with Islam, we see the most striking example of this tradition in Altuncan Hatun, wife of Tughril Bey. Within the Seljuk state, it has become a respected, well-known chick. The reason for this reputation is the reflection of Altuncan Hatun's struggles to keep the state alive and the activities she has contributed to the Seljuk administration. In this study, we will try to give a concrete example of the attitude of Altuncan Hatun as a result of military and political determination against the rebellion issued by Tuğrul Bey's stepbrother İbrahim Yinal while he was in the process of nationalization of the Great Seljuk State. With this sensitivity, Altuncan Hatun, who saved the Seljuk State from the possible collapse, saved the future of the state from the political crisis that the state was in with the determination of military genius and holiness of the homeland.
