Öğe Current trends in primary school education: Studies published in the journals of faculties of educational sciences carried out in the field of primary-school teacher(Pegem Akademi Yayincilik Egitim Danismanlik Hizmetleri, 2018) Anilan H.; Anagün S.S.; Anilan B.; Atalay N.; Kiliç Z.The purpose of this study is to examine the trends of studies about primary-school teaching published in the journals of faculties of educational sciences. Within the scope of this general purpose, answers were sought for the questions below: What is the distribution of the studies published in journals of faculties of educational sciences in terms of; the subject of the study, the population and the study group, data collection tools and data analysis techniques. The criteria determined for this study are that the articles should be published in the journals of the faculties of educational studies accepted to the ULAKBIM database between 2010 and 2016 and should be open-access and related to primary-school teaching. When these criteria were considered, a total of 21 journals and 311 articles published between 2010 and 2016 were accessed. Document analysis method was utilized for collecting the data. Descriptive analysis technique was used to analyze the collected data. It has been observed that the most dealt subject in the articles are evaluation, thinking abilities, self-efficacy, first-reading and writing, and affective traits. © 2018 Pegem Akademi Yayincilik Egitim Danismanlik Hizmetleri.Öğe Teacher candidates' levels of relating the scientific knowledge to their daily lives(Eskisehir Osmangazi University, 2018) Anilan B.; Atalay N.; Kiliç Z.The most important indicator of meaningful learning in science education is that the students learn and often encounter in their daily life in the description. To be able to implement this, students need to be a good science literate. This study was carried out in order to reveal to what extent the teacher candidates can explain the relationship between scientific information of the candidates and events in daily life. To that end, 86 third-grade candidate science teachers were selected as the study group. The study was formulated by the scanning model. To collect the data in the study, prospective teachers were asked to explain survey questions in a scientific way by asking 28 questions about daily life on 11 different topics. It is concluded that they cannot explain the questions on state change in a scientific way, while the teacher candidates can explain the questions that correlate heat insulation and solvents with daily life are correct. As a result of the study, it was determined that the science teachers had difficulties in correlating the scientific. © 2018 International Journal of Instruction.
