    Biosynthesis of exopolysaccharides (EPS) on Pseudomonas Agar P Medium with sugarbeet molasses by Pseudomonas aeruginosa G1 and Pseudomonas putida G12 strains

    In this study, the production of exopolysaccharides (EPS) by Pseudomonas aeruginosa G I and Pseudomonas putida G 12 strains on Pseudomonas Agar P Medium with 2% glycerol was investigated. EPS yields from these strains were detected (192 mg/L, 182 mg/L, respectively). Pseudomonas Agar P Medium with 2% glycerol (w/v) was used as control. Also, EPS productions of these Pseudomonas strains have been determined in sugarbeet molasses [2-6% w/v concentrations (2-6 molasses/100 mL water)] as a complex carbon source. The highest EPS production of the G1 strain (397 mg/L) was found in 6% w/v molasses concentration according to the control, while the highest EPS production of the G12 strain (367 mg/L) was found in 4% w/v molasses concentration according to the control. The use of sugarbeet molasses as an inexpensive alternative to glycerol was efficient.

    Determination of poly-B-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) production in different media by Pseudomonas cepacia G13 strain

    In this study, Poly-beta-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) accumulation was investigated in Pseudomonas cepacia G13 strain. Determination of the amount of PHB was performed chemically. The yield of PHB produced by the A cepacia G13 strain according to dry cell weight was 67.37% w/w. P. cepacia G13 was examined for PHB production in different carbon and nitrogen sources. The amount of PHB produced by this strain in these medium were lower than the amount of PHB production in nutrient broth medium.
