Öğe A novel double-frequency-tuned photonic bandgap (PBG) structure(IEEE, 2001) Gorur, A; Karpuz, C; Gorur, H; Yalcin, KA novel one-dimensional (1-D) photonic bandgap (PBG) structure for microstrip lines is proposed in this study. The PBG structures are designed and fabricated with different configurations, but the same period. It is shown that the stopband characteristics may be controlled by the geometrical configuration. Also, double-frequency-tuned PBG structure is derived by changing the geometrical configuration and the dimension of a conductor strip in geometrical structure.Öğe An investigation on resonance characteristics of CPS open-loop resonator(IEEE, 2001) Karpuz, C; Gorur, H; Yalcin, K; Gorur, AA novel coplanar stripline (CPS) open-loop resonator (OLR) is proposed for maximum miniaturization in uniplanar microwave applications. The effect of variation in the one's width of longer strips of OLR formed in two ways (namely, CPS fixed gap (FG) and CPS variable gap (VG) OLR) on their resonance characteristics is discussed. It is also shown that (VG) OLR structure supports a wider upper stopband including the first spurious resonance frequency.Öğe Analysis of line to line coupled coplanar waveguides with W-shaped conductor backing using conformal mapping method(JOHN WILEY & SONS INC, 2002) Tezekici, BS; Karpuz, C; Gorur, H; Gorur, AA W-shaped microshield coupled parallel coplanar waveguide (CP CPW), which is a new type of CP CPW, is proposed. Closed-form expressions are presented for calculating the quasistatic parameters of this coupled structure by using conformal mapping techniques. The effect of the W-shaped conductor backing on the coupling between CPWs is also discussed. Comparisons are made between the present numerical results and the results available in the microwave literature for CPW V-shaped microshield coupled lines (CWVMCLs) and CP CPWs with a flat conductor backing. In addition, the coupling coefficient of the coupled CPWs is shown to be significantly lower than that of the CWVMCLs in the literature. (C) 2002 Wiley Periodicals. Inc.Öğe Bandstop characteristics of microstrip slotted patch without periodic elements(JOHN WILEY & SONS INC, 2002) Gorur, A; Karpuz, C; Tezekici, BS; Gorur, HA rectangular microstrip slotted patch, which provides the bandgap with different manner of a PBG, is successfully demonstrated with the wideband tuning capability. Both experimental and simulated results confirm that the stopband characteristics can easily be controlled by the slot dimensions, especially by the slot length and the slot position. Moreover, the proposed structure is the simple and compact for MMIC applications. (C) 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.Öğe Bandstop filter with a wider upper passband using microstrip open-loop resonator(IEEE, 2001) Gorur, A; Karpuz, C; Yalcin, K; Gorur, HWe propose a bandstop filter with a wider upper passband using microstrip open-loop resonators for modern communication systems. A microstrip open-loop resonator (MOLR) is discussed for maximum miniaturization in microwave applications and to obtain a wider upper stopband (or passband) including the first spurious resonance frequency for planar filters. The bandstop filter is designed and fabricated using a full-wave simulator. The measured filter performance shows a good agreement with the simulated response.
