    Koroglu in Western Versions

    Today, the entire Turkish world from the Adriatic and the Great Wall of China between neighboring peoples with recognized are encountering a very different narration. These narratives are different information of Koroglu's life, personality, family, etc. There is insufficient information about Koroglu in historical sources. The reason for this, Koroglu is not real person, being the hero of a narrative must be sought. It is opinion abaout a historical person of Koroglu due to the information in the narrative as historically accurate by the researchers. The vast majority of researchers have ignored each narrative can changes context of geography and there might be adapted. For this reason the informations each narrative has been accepted the historical information. This article evaluated Koroglu hero of the narrative information in a variety of sources. Epic for a very wide geographic area described in the article do not include all the narratives. In this context, only the western versions of the investigated and these narratives movement, reached a conclusion about the identity of the Koroglu hero of epic.

    Metaphor and It's Usage in Nigde Proverbs

    Proverbs are the cliched sayings, which represent the rules, practices, life styles, life philosophies, traditions and morals of a nation. These anonymus sayings, which are the products of ancestors' experiences, have reached today from centuries ago within the context of the oral and written culture. The factors of which the proverbs have been surviving for centruies are its' contents of advise and warning de facto judgements against dilemmas and impressive styles. This kind of style has committed these to memories, thus, prevented to be forgotten. Usage of the indirect expressions and narrative arts (analogy, oxymoron, personification, metaphor and metonymia) are the strongest factors of this impressive style. One of the narrative arts used in the proverbs is the metaphor. Function of the metaphor in the proverbs is to crystalllize the situation, event or notion expressed, in other words, to reify these. In this study, the metaphors and kinds of them existing in Nigde proverbs identified through written documents are studied. As a result of the study, it is found out that ontological metaphors are the ones that are most frequently used in Nigde proverbs and that they take on the concretization function.

    Variation and form change in the riddles of western Turks

    Genres in Turkish folk literature are usually in verse, prose or verse-prose form. Riddles in this branch have a flexible structure in terms of form. There are riddles in verse form as well as those in prose form. Sometimes, a riddle text may be in both prose and verse form. In this article, the riddle texts of Western Turks are examined and form changes in them are determined. Depending on the achieved samples, it is concluded that the riddles are flexible in form and variation is also effective in this. This variation changes not only the exterior structure of the riddle but also the interior structure of the riddle.
