    An Evaluation on the Cinematographic Presentation of Historical and Spiritual Characters

    While historical and spiritual characters have been present in Turkish cinema history since the 1950s, recent developments in filming technologies, increased interest in television, and the rise in popularity of TV series have contributed these characters to also appear on television screens. They have gained an unprecedented audience and follower potential. Television series that depict the life stories of religious figures have achieved great success with modern possibilities, and visualizing the spiritual teachings of these personalities and conveying them to people through series has become exceptionally important. As a result, multiple religious characters have been featured in television series, and these characters, previously only read about, have now come to life on screen. This study focuses on the presentation of historical/religious characters on screen, with specific reference to Imam Ghazali, Tapduk Emre, and Mahperi Hunat Hatun, who hold great importance in Turkish-Islamic history, as exemplars. The universe of the study consists of religious/Sufi characters on television, while its sample comprises the listed names. The main objective of the study is to research how these figures are depicted on screen. Through narrative analysis, it is concluded that the examined characters are mostly successfully portrayed on screen, although at times, there may be discrepancies between the depiction and the historical reality.

    An Overview of Zygmunt Bauman's "The Individualized Society" Thesis Through the TV Series "Yalan Dünya"

    Sociological analysis of social problems that affect the flow of life is crucial for giving meaning to human life and improving its quality. Individualization is one of the most significant issues faced by contemporary societies. The bitter consequences of individualization are experienced as the members of society become indifferent to each other, individuals become alienated from themselves, and they experience loneliness within communities. Zygmunt Bauman, one of the thinkers focusing on this subject, believes that people who are increasingly individualized should struggle to add meaning and purpose to their lives, and that they can re-express themselves with an uninterrupted effort they can sustain in this dire human condition they are in. Zygmunt Bauman, one of the critical and productive sociologists of the age we live in and considered by some circles as the \"theorist of postmodernity\", is a Polish sociologist and philosopher. He is known for his works that reveal both the adaptation of postmodern philosophy to the field of sociology and its evaluation at the theoretical level. Among them, one of his important works is The Individualized Society. In this work, he discussed how the individual will continue to exist in the society in the process of individualization, and focused on the changing character of today's social and political life. In the study, the \"Yalan Dünya\" series, which is thought to have the potential to reflect social reality, is examined. In the study, in which the sociological analysis method was used, the data were collected with the monograph technique, and the characters in the series were analyzed by associating them with Bauman's \"The Individualized Society\" thesis. As a result of the research, significant similarities were seen between Bauman's concept of individuation and the characters of the series. These similarities were interpreted in line with the problematic of the research.

    CONVEYING LOVE FOR ANIMALS TO CHILDREN THROUGH ANIMATED CARTOONS: NİLOYA

    In this study, the animated cartoon series \"Niloya,\" which is broadcast on the children's television channel TRT Çocuk and targets preschool and school-aged children, is examined. Animals hold an important place in the world of children, just as humans and nature do. Therefore, depicting animals in animated cartoons makes them significant for children's education. The role of animated cartoons in conveying values to children is an undeniable fact. This study investigates the teaching of love for animals to children and traces the relationship between humans and animals through the Niloya animated cartoon series. For this purpose, 37 episodes of the cartoon were selected using purposive sampling technique and analyzed through narrative analysis method. As a result of the study, scenes depicting friendship between humans and animals were frequently observed in the examined episodes. Topics such as the necessity of extending a helping hand to animals living in need, the social and emotional benefits of pet ownership for children, the sense of getting to know and exploring new animals, and the importance of not harming animals were addressed in the atmosphere of the animated cartoon. Throughout all the analyzed episodes, expressions of love for animals, cooperation, friendship, spending time with them, playing with them, and human support towards animals were evident.
