Öğe Karyology of ten Turkish Trigonella L. (Leguminosae) species from section Cylindricae Boiss. [Türkiye'de Cylindricae Boiss. seksiyonundan on Trigonella L. (Leguminosae) türünün karyolojisi](2010) Martin E.; Akan H.; Ekici M.; Aytaç Z.This study describes the karyotypes of 10 Turkish species of Trigonella L. belonging to section Cylindricae Boiss. (Leguminosae). Excluding the karyotypes of T. velutina Boiss. and of T. sibthorpii Boiss., which were previously studied, all of the other 8 species were studied here for the first time. The species of the section were gathered from different localities in Turkey, and it was determined that the somatic chromosome numbers for all species were the same (2n = 16). Also, satellite metaphase chromosomes were determined in T. velutina and T. strangulata. © TÜBİTAK.Öğe Karyomorphological studies of ten taxa of Barbarea (Cruciferae) from Turkey [Türkiye'den on Barbarea (Cruciferae) taksonunda Karyomorfolojik çali{dotless}şmalar](2009) Martin E.; Savran A.; Bagci Y.In this research, the somatic chromosome numbers and karyotypes of taxa belonging to the genus Barbarea R.Br. were determined using Image Analysis System. These taxa are Barbarea vulgaris R.Br., B. verna (Mill.) Aschers., B. sicula C. Presl., B. trichopoda Hausskn. ex Bornm., B. auriculata Hausskn. ex Bornm. var. auriculata, B. lutea Cullen & Coode, B. plantaginea DC., B. brachycarpa Boiss. subsp. brachycarpa var. brachycarpa, B. brachycarpa Boiss. subsp. minor (K. Koch) Parolly & Eren var. pilicarpa Parolly & Eren, B. brachycarpa Boiss. subsp. brachycarpa var. ilicifolia Parolly, Nordt & Eren as 2n = 2x = 16. Based on karyological data with this genus, one basic chromosome number in Barbarea taxa were observed (x = 8). Furthermore, ideograms were given for all the studied Barbarea taxa. The research has made contribution to the cytotaxonomic revision of the genus Barbarea in Turkey.Öğe Morphological, karyological and phylogenetic evaluation of Cyclotrichium: A piece in the tribe Mentheae puzzle [Cyclotrichium cinsinin morfolojik, karyolojik ve filogenetik analizi: Tribus Mentheae bulmacasinda küçük bir çözüm](2010) Dirmenci T.; Dündar E.; Deniz G.; Arabaci T.; Martin E.; Jamzad Z.The genus Cyclotrichium, a member of the tribe Mentheae subtribe Menthinae (Lamiaceae, Nepetoideae), was analysed with respect to morphological revision, phylogenetic analysis, and cytogenetic properties. All species of the genus were investigated for morphological characters and ITS (internal transcribed spacers) of nrDNA sequence comparison (except C. hausknechtii for ITS). Six members of the genus were also analysed for chromosome numbers. The combined results strongly suggested that Cyclotrichium is a separate genus in Nepetoideae with distinct morphological, phylogenetic, and cytogenetic characteristics. For intrageneric phylogeny of Cyclotrichium, 3 groups were recognised: 1. C. niveum; 2. C. origanifolium; and 3. the remaining 6 species. Clinopodium s.l. and Mentha appear to be most closely related to Cyclotrichium. The phylogenetic relationship of Cyclotrichium with Clinopodium s.l., Mentha, Micromeria, Melissa, and Satureja is discussed. This is the first report on the somatic chromosome numbers of 6 Cyclotrichium species and phylogenetic analysis of Cyclotrichium based on (nrDNA) ITS sequences. © TÜBİTAK.
