Öğe Evaluating the Social Anxiety Depression Levels and Accompanying Psychosocial Problems in Children Diagnosed with Enuresis(Springernature, 2022) Oztorun, Zeynep Yilmaz; Beser, Nalan Gordeles; Oztorun, Kenan; Arabaci, Leyla BaysanIntroduction: This study was conducted to evaluate the accompanying psychosocial problems in enuresis as well as the social anxiety-depression levels in children diagnosed with enuresis. Methods: This descriptive study investigating depression and social anxiety levels of children diagnosed with enuresis was carried out with 167 children who were followed up for at least six months following their enuresis diagnosis. All participating children had no other physical or mental illnesses and were aged five years or older. Data were collected using three measurement tools and evaluated using descriptive. correlational analyzes. Results: In this study, 69.4% of the children diagnosed with enuresis were aged 7-12 years. 38.3% of their parents used reward, while 37.1% preferred punishment as a method for toilet training their children. The children's depression and social anxiety mean scores were 21.48 +/- 7.29 and 54.58 +/- 8.84, respectively. A strong positive correlation was found between the children's mean depression and social anxiety scores (r=0.677, p<0.001). The median depression scores of children were found to be statistically significantly different according to the children's type of family, night sleep characteristics, type of enuresis, school success, and family life (p<0.05). Those with fragmented families (p=0.049). who did not sleep deeply at night (p=0.031), who slept for about 5-7 hours a day (p<0.01), and those whose school success was negatively affected by enuresis (p=0.021) and those who were exposed to negative family life (p=0.034) all obtained statistically significantly higher median depression scores. Conclusion: Children with enuresis had low depression and moderate social anxiety and their depression increased as their social anxiety increased. The children experienced psychosocial difficulties due to enuresis. When treating children with enuresis, it is necessary to consider both the affected child and their families through the adoption of a holistic approach, and also to evaluate the children both physically and psychosocially.Öğe Evaluation of Sexual Function According to the Size of the Needle Used in Transrectal-Ultrasonography-Guided Prostate Biopsy(Galenos Publ House, 2021) Turgut, Hasan; Sarier, Mehmet; Oztorun, Kenan; Yalcin, Kenan; Ozgur, Guner KemalObjective: This study aimed to evaluate the sexual function in patients who underwent a transrectal ultrasonography-guided prostate needle biopsy (TRUS-Bx) using 16G and 18G needles. Materials and Methods: Ninety patients underwent TRUS-Bx. Group 1 included patients who underwent biopsy with an 18G needle (n=45), and group 2 included patients who underwent biopsy with a 16G needle (n=45). Sexual function in both groups was prospectively compared. Additionally, the patients' age, prostate-specific antigen (PSA), prostate volume, cancer detection rate, complication rates, visual analog scale (VAS), and International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) scores were compared. Results: Age, PSA, prostate volume, cancer detection rate, complication rates and VAS were not found statistically different between the groups. No difference was observed between the two groups in terms of the five main items of IIEF before the procedure. The intercourse satisfaction value was found to be significantly lower after the procedure than before the procedure in group 1 (p<0.05). Orgasmic function, intercourse satisfaction, and overall satisfaction were statistically significantly lower after the procedure than before the procedure in group 2 (p<0.001). Orgasmic function and overall satisfaction were lower in group 2 and significantly different between the two groups four weeks after the procedure (p<0.001). Conclusion: Although erectile function, sexual desire, and intercourse satisfaction were not different on using different needle sizes, in patients where 16G needles were used, orgasmic function and overall satisfaction were lower four weeks after the procedure.Öğe Field study for determining the effect of COVID-19 on healthcare workers Effect of COVID-19 on healthcare workers(Bayrakol Medical Publisher, 2021) Cinaroglu, Nesibe Sultan; Oztorun, Kenan; Kacmaz, Mustafa; Oztorun, Zeynep YilmazAim: This study determines the anxiety levels of health workers by evaluating their anxiety status in the challenging process of the pandemic. Material and Methods: One hundred forty health workers who studied at pandemic hospital were included in the study. The data were collected using the Pandemic Period Data Form (PPDF), and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), prepared for assessing anxiety levels of health workers in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak. Results: In the study there was a significant difference between the health care workers working in intensive care units and those working in non-intensive care units in terms of age, gender, and presence of children. We found that there was a significant difference in STAI state anxiety scores (p <.05) of health workers in terms of having children, and they had higher levels of state anxiety. On average, the health workers from intensive care units had higher levels of PPDF anxiety. In this study, we detected that the COVID-19 anxiety levels of the health workers between the ages of 20 and 30 were higher compared with those aged 41 and above (p < .05). Discussion: It was found that the pandemic process had a negative impact on health workers as their anxiety increased in this process. Elimination of the gaps related to application or information in the published guidelines can help health workers feel more safe.Öğe Hand-assisted laparoscopic donor nephrectomy: 1864 cases in 15 years of experience(Tubitak Scientific & Technological Research Council Turkey, 2022) Gunaydin, Bilal; Ucar, Taha; Arpali, Emre; Akyollu, Basak; Akinci, Serkan; Karatas, Cihan; Oztorun, KenanBackground/aim: To evaluate hand-assisted laparoscopic donor nephrectomy (HALDN) in terms of intraoperative and postoperative results. Materials and methods: After institutional review board approval was obtained, a total of 1864 HALDN operations performed between March 2007 and January 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. Age, sex, body mass index (BMI), status of smoking and presence of previous abdominal surgery, laterality, operative time, transfusion requirement, port counts, length of extraction incision, time until mobilization, time until oral intake, donor serum creatinine levels before and one week after the surgery, length of postoperative hospital stay, intraoperative complications, and postoperative recovery and complications were recorded and statistically analyzed. Multiple renal arteries, BMI, right nephrectomy and male sex were also separately evaluated as risk factors for complications and operative time. Results: A total of 825 (44.26%) male and 1039 (55.74%) female patients were enrolled in the study. The mean age of the patients was 45.79 +/- 12.88 years. There were a total of 143 complications (7.67% of the total 1864 cases) consisting of 68 (3.65%) intraoperative and 75 (4.02%) postoperative complications. Open conversion was necessary for 10 patients (0.53%) to manage intraoperative complications. Reoperation was needed for 1 patient due to bleeding 6 h after the operation. Multiple renal arteries were a risk factor for intraoperative complications and prolonged operative time. Right nephrectomy and male sex were also related with longer operative times. Conclusions: HALDN is a safe procedure associated with low complication rates.Öğe The role of retroperitoneoscopy in the management of simple renal cysts(Bayrakol Medical Publisher, 2020) Atac, Fatih; Beyaz, Cemalettin Cengiz; Oztorun, Kenan; Oztekin, UnalAim: In this study, we aimed to show that all the Bosniak Type 1 cysts with any localization, size, number or previous surgery can be managed with retroperitoneoscopic decortication in our clinic. Materials and Methods: We incorporated in the study 35 patients that had symptomatic type 1 renal cysts and were treated with retroperitoneoscopic decortication in our clinic between July 2012 and January 2014. A comparative analysis of cyst laterality, localization, and size, operation time, previous surgery was performed. Retroperitoneal space was created by balloon dilator. After an 11-mm optic trocar was inserted, a 10-mm port (dominant hand) and a 5-mm port were inserted under direct vision to become an equilateral triangle. Results: Mean cyst diameter was 84.2 +/- 17.2 mm (56-132 mm). Twenty (57.14%) cases had right, 15 (42.86%) cases had left renal cyst. The mean operation time was 40.1 +/- 11.5 minutes. Four (11.4%) patients had previous surgery, 3 (8.5%) patients had percutaneous aspiration with sclerotherapy before. The mean operative time was 36.6 +/- 8.3 minutes for primary cases, 54.2 +/- 12 minutes for secondary cases and it was statistically longer (p: 0.002). Discussion: Retroperitoneoscopic renal cyst decortication is a safe and fast procedure with the increasing use of laparoscopy. Previous surgery was the factor for longer operation time in our study.Öğe The use of ilioinguinal and iliohypogastric nerve block anesthesia in inguinal bladder hernia repair(Bayrakol Medical Publisher, 2023) Oztorun, Kenan; Kacmaz, Mustafa; Bolat, HaciAim: There are data showing that the use of minimally invasive anesthesia methods (local anesthesia, nerve blocks) as an alternative to traditional anesthesia methods used in inguinal hernia repair surgery is safe and effective. During the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected the whole world, we aimed to evaluate the use of minimally invasive anesthesia methods in patients with inguinal bladder hernia, as well as their perioperative and postoperative results in our pilot study.Material and Methods: We evaluated the perioperative and postoperative data of five patients with inguinal bladder hernia, who underwent surgery with local anesthesia and ilioinguinal/iliohypogastric nerve blockade, four of which were performed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results: It is possible to perform inguinal bladder hernia surgery with local anesthesia and ilioinguinal/iliohypogastric nerve block, including in secondary cases. Better hemodynamic stabilization in the intraoperative period reduces the need for narcotic analgesics by providing effective analgesia in the postoperative period, as well as reducing the risk of contamination in airway control.Discussions: Performing inguinal bladder hernia surgery using local anesthesia and ilioinguinal/iliohypogastric nerve block provides reliable and effective analgesia during the perioperative and postoperative periods.
