    An Attempt for a Local Bank in the Early Periods of the Republic: Akseki Trade Bank

    Banks are one of the important institutions of the economy due to their functions. While banking activities in the Ottoman Empire were conducted by foreigners, Second Constitutional Era was a period in which the national banking activities started. After War Of Independence, the national capital banking initiatives were shaped by the new economic understanding of the Republic continuing with accumulation of past, and many local banks were established throughout the country. One of the local banks in question is Akseki Ticaret Bankasi. The bank, which was established to provide loans to farmers and exporters in the region in favorable conditions, made a significant contribution to the economic development of the region and the formation of national capital. The bank which was founded in with 322 partners continued. The majority of the Bank's founders were composed of Akseki merchants, who had migrated from Akseki to Izmir. For this reason, the name Akseki at the beginning of the bank, was also coming from there. Although he lived in Izmir and its vicinity, there were also merchant and tradesman who were not from Akseki. The founders board of the Bank consists of six people who are mentioned under the title of Founders (Muessisler).The bank opened a branch to Aydin and Odemis and an agency to Bayindir. Akseki Bank, which was negatively affected by the conditions of World War II, continued its activities until 1959. The bank, which was established to provide loans to farmers and exporters in the region in favourable conditions, has made a significant contribution to the economic development of the region and the formation of local capital. In this study, the subjects such as establishment purpose, partnership structure, capital structure, profit distribution of Akseki Ticaret Bankasi and important issues in balance sheet and profit/loss statements of the articles of association of the bank were examined.

    Settlement of Exchanges in the Light of Elimination Requests: Adana Example

    A huge number of people migrated by the exchange of populace which is agreed at Lausanne Conference between Turkey and Greece and it has been one of the biggest population movements. During this migration movement both Greece and Turkey took in elaborate measurements in order to minimize trouble that migrants could face on the go. It is very important for the researchers who are interested in analyzing where these migrants came from, where they were settled down, and the security and real estate records in the locale they left. Elimination records can be considered to be one of the primary resources that shed light to those times. With the help of analysis of elimination requests data, this study aims to contribute to provision of tangible knowledge on migration to and migrants into Adana Province, Turkey.
