    The Relationship Between Consumer and Producer Price Indices in Turkey: Structural Break and ARDL Bounds Test

    Inflation is an important and multi-faceted variable which was used in a lot of empirical studies. In these studies either CPI or PPI is used as a proxy for inflation level. But, if it is the case that CPI and PPI are not related the outcomes of this choice may differ. So, in order to be able to substitute these two indicators it is necessary that they are positively related. For many countries, the relationship between CPI and PPI has been examined and somewhat conflicting evidence yielded. In this study, the relationship between CPI (Consumer Price Index) and PPI (Producer Price Index) were investigated during the period 1994: 01-2009:12 by using bounds test in the case of Turkey. The results have shown that there is one-directional causality relation PPI to CPI. This result was also denoted that inflation in Turkey is affected by cost of production in short and long term.

    The Relationship between Tax Burden and Economic Growth: The Case of Turkey

    In this study which aims to investigate the relationship between tax burden and economic growth in Turkish economy during the period of 1969-2013 by using Markov regime switching model it has been found out that increases in direct taxes as a percentage of gross domestic product affect the economic growth negatively however increases in indirect taxes as a percentage of gross domestic product affect it positively during economic contraction and expansion periods. The results indicate that argument introduced by endogenous economic growth models regarding tax policies is valid for Turkish economy for the period covered by the study.

    TOTAL FACTOR PRODUCTIVITY AND EXPORT RELATIONSHIP: THE CASE FOR AGRICULTURE SECTOR IN FOUR MEDITERRANEAN COUNTRIES

    This study investigates the export and productivity growth in agriculture sector for 4 selected Mediterranean countries (France, Italy, Spain and Turkey) during 1975-2007. Despite increasing interest in the relationship between trade and productivity, very limited studies have been conducted on the causal links between exports and productivity in agricultural sector. The causal relationship between productivity and export is a debate still; there has been a more reasonable approach in other sectors such as in industry. In this study, the empirical analysis results provide support to a long-term relationship between agricultural export and productivity only for Italy among the 4 countries. The results suggest that the relation between agricultural export and productivity has been ambiguous in the long term still.
