Öğe Investigation of some trace element pollution in Karasu, Sarmisakli Cayi and Kizilirmak Rivers, Kayseri-Turkey(1999) Soylak M.; Narin I.; Elçi L.; Dogan M.The lead, copper, nickel, cobalt and cadmium contents of water samples from Karasu, Sarmisakli Cayi and Kizilirmak Rivers that contain industrial and house-hold sewage of the Kayseri City-Turkey were determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry after preconcentration and separation on an Amberlite XAD-4 column. To compare the levels of the metal contents in water and sediment samples, trace metal concentrations of sediment samples from the same stations were also determined after leaching with aqua regia. The metal concentrations found in this study for the water and sediment samples were approximately three times higher than results found in 1990.Öğe Lead concentrations of dust samples from Nigde City-Turkey(2000) Soylak M.; Narin I.; Elci L.; Dogan M.Lead accumulation in Nigde City-Turkey was investigated in sixty nine street dust samples. The lead levels in the samples were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry after extraction of lead with aqua regia. The concentrations of lead in the sixty nine dust samples were in the range of 82.2-450.2 µg/g with an average concentration of 167.6 µg/g. The highest and lowest mean concentrations of lead in the samples from Nigde City were found in car parks and in school gardens and playgrounds, respectively.Öğe Serum cadmium levels of people living in Kayseri-Belsin Region-Turkiye(1998) Saraymen R.; Soylak M.; Narin I.Concentrations of cadmium in blood serum of samples of 84 (30 male + 54 female) healthy people living in Belsin-Kayseri, near the great industrial zone of Kayseri named Organize Sanayi Bolgesi, were determined by Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry. The mean concentration of Cd was found to be 5.98 ± 0.66 µg/l. The serum cadmium concentration of persons living in this region are approximately three times higher than the world values.Öğe Serum zinc levels of a poor economic and social region near an industrial zone(1998) Soylak M.; Saraymen R.; Narin I.; Dogan M.The concentrations of zinc in blood serum of 82 (28 male + 54 female) persons living in the Belsin Region, Kayseri, were determined by flame-atomic absorption spectrometry. The Belsin Region near a large industrial zone, named Kayseri Organize Sanayi Bolgesi, has poor social and economic conditions. The mean concentration of zinc was found in the upper limits of the world values (0.70 ± 0.27 mg/l). The influence of variables such as sex, age groups, number of pregnancy per women, smoking habits on the serum zinc levels was also examined. None of the correlation coefficients between the serum zinc level and following variables were significant: sex, age, number of pregnancies, and smoking habits. The results of the present study were found to be in agreement with earlier works reported in the literature.
