Öğe Determination of the Relationship Between Family and Social Support and Anxiety-Depression Levels in Liver Transplant Patients(Marmara Univ, Inst Health Sciences, 2023) Sozen, Kezban Koras; Karabulut, NezihaObjective: The present study was conducted to determine of the relationship between family and social support and anxiety-depression levels in liver transplant patients. Methods: The Introductory Characteristics Determination Form, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale (MPSSS) and Perceived Family Support Scale (PFSS) were used to question the socio-demographic characteristics of the patients. Results: When the distribution of the mean anxiety and depression scores according to their introductory characteristics of the patients was examined, it was determined that the mean score of HADS was found to be high (HAD-A=19.71 +/- 3.29, HAD-D=15.90 +/- 1.99). The mean MPSSS of the patients was found to be at moderate level as 54.56 +/- 17.40; and the mean total score of the PFSS of the patients was found to be at high level as 35.77 +/- 7.16. It was determined that family and social support was effective in reducing the depression levels after liver transplantation. Conclusions: It was found that family and social support was influential in reducing the depression levels after liver transplantation.Öğe Determining the Relationship Between Perceptions of the Nursing Profession and Attitudes Towards Career Future of Nursing Senior Students: An Observational Study(Memorial Univ Newfoundland, 2024) Sozen, Kezban Koras; Aydemir, TugbaThis investigation aimed to explore the correlation between the perceptions of nursing senior students regarding the nursing profession and their outlook on their future career prospects. The study sample for this descriptive and relationship -seeking research comprised 143 senior students enrolled in the nursing department of a university. The research was finalized with the participation of 105 students who satisfied the inclusion criteria and provided their consent. It was ascertained that Career Future Inventory (CFI) scores exhibited notable variations based on the students' gender, preparedness for the nursing profession, and their post -graduate employment status. The research revealed a substantial positive correlation among the CFI scale's overall score, the sub -dimensions of career adaptability and career optimism, and the total score of the Nursing Profession Perception Scale (PNPS). Furthermore, the sub -dimensions of age, gender, post -graduation work plan, and PNPS were identified as the contributing factors explaining 53.7% of the variation in the students' career plans. The study revealed that the students' perceptions of the status and the quality of the nursing profession were significant factors influencing their career plans. Consequently, it is essential to focus on fostering a positive professional perception among students by incorporating professional values and ethics into nursing education. By doing so, we can positively influence their attitudes towards the nursing profession and, in turn, enhance their career aspirations.Öğe Efficacy of Hand and Foot Massage in Anxiety and Pain Management Following Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy: A Controlled Randomized Study(Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2020) Sozen, Kezban Koras; Karabulut, NezihaThis study was planned and performed to evaluate the effect of foot and hand massage on pain and anxiety management, which is one of the nonpharmacological pain relief methods in patients who undergo laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The present study was designed and conducted in the randomized controlled manner to determine the impacts of foot and hand massage on postoperative pain and anxiety scores of patients who receive laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The universe of the study consisted of the patients who received laparoscopic cholecystectomy between April 2018 and January 2019. The study was completed with 196 patients as 63 patients in the foot massage group, 65 patients in the hand massage group, and 68 patients in the control group. To collect the data, the Descriptive Characteristics Form, Visual Analog Scale, and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory were used. The pain intensity of patients in the foot massage group and hand massage group were less than in the control group at 90 and 150 minutes after intervention (P < 0.05). A significant reduction was determined in the need for analgesics for the patients in the foot massage group and hand massage group compared with the control group (P < 0.05). A significant positive relationship was found between pain intensity and state anxiety levels in patients of the foot massage group and hand massage group. Foot and hand massage are influential in decreasing pain and anxiety levels after surgeries for patients who undergo laparoscopic cholecystectomy.Öğe Examining nurses' death anxiety and attitudes toward caring for dying patients: a cross-sectional study in Turkey(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2024) Inci, Figen; Sozen, Kezban KorasDeath anxiety may reduce the interaction between nurses and patients, causing nurses to focus more on the physical care needs of patients and ignore their psychosocial and spiritual needs. This study was conducted to examine nurses' death anxiety and attitudes toward caring for dying patients. The data were collected using an information form, the Thorson-Powell Death Anxiety Scale (TPDAS), and the Frommelt Attitudes Toward the Care of the Dying Scale (FATCOD). The mean TPDAS and FATCOD scores were 46.71 (14.48) and 104.97 (13.55), respectively, and it was determined that they had moderate death anxiety and positive attitudes towards the care of dying patients. Those working in intensive care and internal medicine clinics had more positive attitudes toward caring for dying patients compared with those working in surgical clinics. Those who reported having a strong faith had lower death anxiety.
