Öğe Effect of Operating Parameters on the Breakage Process of Calcite in a Stirred Media Mill(Springer Heidelberg, 2019) Katircioglu-Bayel, Diler; Ozkan, Safak Gokhan; Toraman, Oner YusufOne of the most energy-intensive processes for producing submicron range calcite is stirred media mill. In the present work, numerous operating parameters such as solid mass fraction, grinding media size, media filling ratio, and grinding time have been investigated using a vertical type stirred media mill. The results are evaluated on the basis of mean particle size, specific surface area, and specific energy consumption. After conducting this study, optimum experimental conditions found to be as 70% media filling ratio, 25% solid mass fraction, 1 mm grinding media size, and 120 min grinding time. Besides, energy savings up to 22% were achieved with the choice of proper media size.Öğe Experimental investigations of preparation of calcite particles by ultrasonic treatment(Oficyna Wydawnicza Politechniki Wroclawskiej, 2017) Toraman, Oner YusufThis paper investigates breakage of calcite powder (d(50) = 25.23 mu m) to fine particle sizes using an ultrasonic generator (400 W, 24 kHz). The present study focuses on comminution of calcite powder in water media by ultrasonic treatment and the effect of some operational parameters such as treatment time (5-30 min), ultrasonic power (30-100% as amplitude), solid ratio (5-30% w/w), probe positions (0.5-2 cm) and cycle on the product size. Experimental results were evaluated on the basis of average particle size (d(50)). Sonication of calcite produced a drastic particle-size reduction (d(50)= 12.89 mu m) under optimal conditions.Öğe Optimization of operating variables for production of ultra-fine talc in a stirred mill.
