(Sakarya University, 2016) Soylu, Buket Aslandağ; Yelken, Tuğba Yanpar
Nowadays, higher education institutions in Europe have charged various roles in order to keep track of new educational changes in our ever-changing world. In such a reconstruction period, a lot of qualities which an undergraduate will need in his future life have emerged. As such, universities are to change the understanding of the concept of teaching/learning and personal development in higher education. With the advent of Bologna Process, the educators working at universities have become aware of the fact that future societies will be in need of graduates who are well development in both personal and professional domains. At this point, life-wide learning habits of undergraduates have great importance, which will lead their future. Life-wide learning, a brand new topic within life-long learning paradigm, has a complex notion underlying the importance of the development of cognitive, affective, social, technical and cultural domains related to undergraduates. This study introduces the idea of life-wide learning and it has also been aimed to present the results of a scientific study including a scale and personal development maps applied on undergraduates attending faculties of education. In the study, the life-wide learning habits of participants have been analyzed after taking part in various transdisciplinary activities. Depending on the data collected the life-wide learning habits of university students have been discussed, and some suggestions have been offered to overcome some difficulties in organizational changes in higher education. This study have been expected to contribute from a certain perspective to ongoing debate on higher education policy. © The Turkish Online Journal of Educational Technology.
