Öğe Contribution to Rousettus aegyptiacus (Mammalia: Chiroptera) from Turkey(2003) Karataş A.; Yigit N.; Çolak E.; Kankiliç T.Rousettus aegyptiacus is active throughout the year in Turkey, where its morphology was studied collected from three localities in the south-west. The characteristics of the Turkish population were similar to those of the nominative subspecies. Moderate differences between the sexes were found in tibia length and total body length. The karyotype is 2n= 36, FN= 70, FNa= 66. The X chromosome is a large metacentric/submetacentric, and the Y chromosome is a dot-like acrocentric.Öğe Notes on the mammals found in Kazdagi National Park and its environs(2006) Yigit N.; Karataş A.; Demirsoy A.; Özkurt Ş.; Çolak E.The present study is based on species collected and observed in Kazdagi National Park and its surroundings. Field collections yielded 40 mammal species from 6 orders: Insectivora (4), Chiroptera (14), Lagomorpha (1), Rodentia (11), Carnivora (8), and Artiodactyla (2). Of the species recorded in this study, 6 were new records from north-west Anatolia: Sorex volnuchini, Rhinolophus hipposideros, Myotis emarginatus, Eptesicus serotinus, Hypsugo savii, and Microtus subterraneus. © TÜBİTAK.Öğe Notes on the nesting and breeding of Delichon urbica (Linnaeus, 1758) (Aves: Passeriformes) near Köprüköy (Kizilirmak, Turkey)(2007) Saygili F.; Yigit N.The migration and some bio-ecological characteristics of a house martin (Delichon urbica) population, which has established colonies under bridges over the K?z?l?rmak River near Köprüköy village (K?r?kkale), were investigated in 2003 and 2004. These house martins were observed from the beginning of April to the first week of September, when they migrated south. According to the specimens examined, mean measurements of total length, wingspan, and weight were recorded as 133.5 mm, 279.5 mm, and 15.5 g, respectively. Mean measurements and weights of the nests were 12.5 mm long × 9 mm wide × 6 mm high, and 425 g. The first clutch was observed in May, the first offspring appeared during the first week of June, and litter size varied from 1 to 4. The mean weight of eggs was 1.6 g: the total body length and weight of a hatchling were 6 mm and 0.83 g. It was also found that the house martin had a maximum of 2 clutches during the breeding season. © Tübitak.Öğe On the distribution, taxonomy and karyology of the genus Plecotus (Chiroptera: Vespertilionidae) in Turkey [Türkiye'de Yayiliş Gösteren Plecotus (Chiroptera: Vespertilionidae) Cinsinin Yayilişi, Taksonomisi ve Karyolojisi Üzerine Bir Çalişma](2003) Karatas A.; Yigit N.; Çolak E.; Kankiliç T.Plecotus auritus and Plecotus austriacus were recorded from 8 and 3 localities in the Asiatic part of Turkey, respectively. It was determined that the length of the first premolar, the shape of the zygomatic arches and baculum distinguish these taxa from each other. Apart from these morphological characteristics, the tibia length of P. austriacus was found to be significantly greater than that of P. austriacus (P < 0.05). The diploid chromosome numbers were identical in both taxa (2n = 32). The number of chromosomal arms (FN = 54) and the number of autosomal chromosomal arms (FNa = 50) were the same as in previously published papers on P. austriacus.
