Özet
The power systems comprise centralized and distributed generation sources, building the generation stage. The generators actuated by any of the power sources convert any type of energy to electrical power and are described as the starting node of power system. This chapter represents fundamental principles of electric circuits related to power generation, load, and source connections in single and three-phase systems, and essential theoretical theorems describing the operation of power systems in detail. Moreover, basic principles of electric machines are introduced in detail for providing further understanding on electricity generation and use of electromagnetical conversion in power systems. The operation of electric machines operating in generator mode has been represented in terms of circuit networks and phasor diagrams. It is aimed to provide a comprehensive introduction for essential theorems, operating principles, and circuit analysis methods in terms of power systems that are represented in the following chapters of this book. © 2021 Elsevier Inc.
