IN VIVO HEPATOPROTECTIVE EFFECTS OF Hypericum crenulatum BOISS ON NIMESULIDE-INDUCED TOXICITY IN MICE

dc.description.abstract | Plants of Hypericaceae family including many species have been used for the treatment of various dieases such as melancholia, abdominal pain, wound, tumor and oxidative stress in folk medicine. Hypericum crenulatum Boiss is a member of this family and is found throughout Bolkar mount from Meydan Yayla to San Tepe. It is an endemic herbaceous perennial plant. It is aimed to investigate in this study whether this plant specie have a hepatoprotective properties against nimesulide-induced liver injury in mice. According to the results of the study, methanolic extract of Hypericum crenulatum Boiss showed significant differences on serum ALP and liver histopathology. However, serum AST and ALT values, TAS, TOS and OSI were not altered. Hypericum crenulatum Boiss significant improvement Boiss extract at low dose provided a in nimesulide-induced acute liver toxicity. The data indicate that methanolic extract of Hypericum crenulatum Boiss is considered to be effective against liver toxicity. | |
