To accomplish a reduction in size as well as to obtain a good performance compared with the conventional half-wavelength coplanar waveguide (CPW) resonator, novel CPW structures are presented and investigated. The presented CPWs provide a similar to 70% reduction in the resonance frequency as well as a 20% increase in the Q factor over conventional CPW resonators. Moreover, good agreement between theoretical and experimental resonance frequencies has been confirmed.
