One of the basic requirements of being a nation is the existence of an identity that distinguishes it from other nations and the existence of cultural elements effective on the formation of this identity. It is not easy for other nations to arbitrarily adopt that identity and culture as they are formed in a historical process. States use many different means of transmission of identity and culture.. This is sometimes done deliberately and systematically, and states sometimes do this unintentionally. Postage stamps are among the instruments that can be used in the transmission process of identity and culture. When the postage stamps of New Turkish states (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan) are analyzed, it is seen that there exist postage stamps of various years regarding Turkish identity and culture.
