dc.description.abstractThe general purpose of the research is to determine the recognition levels of 6th grade students about environmental problems. In the study, environmental recognition scale was used to determine the recognition levels of the students about environmental problems. In the scale, there are items about environmental problems in Turkey as well as the world. Study group consist of 504 elementary students. SPSS 16.0 statistical package were used for the analysis of the collected data. According to students, destruction of forests, air, water and earth pollution and global warming are serious environmental problems for the world. In the analysis made, the significant difference between their opinions regarding Turkey's environmental problems and global environmental problems are in favour of the world. Students consider destruction of forest, air, water and earth pollution and global warming are more serious global problems rather than problems of Turkey only.
