In short, corrosion is a phenomenon in which metallic materials interact with their surroundings and lose their metallic property. Corrosion is the result of the metal being lost, all the labor that is spent is wasted until it is removed from the nature, and the energy and investment are wasted. Corrosion causes heavy economic losses. As a result, corrosion is a natural disaster and must be fought. In fact, human aging is also a naturally occurring example of corrosion. A numerous of industries have been affected by corrosion, including oil production, oil refining, chemical and petrochemical manufacture, pickling and civil engineering structures, such as buildings and bridges in today’s world. Corrosion inhibition methods are particularly significant in the study of electrochemistry and provide researchers with a relatively quick way of studying the structure and behavior of corrosion inhibitors. Corrosion studies of metal and alloys are a common problem in industries and they have drawn a considerable attention by many researchers. Mild steel is one of the most important engineering materials which is due to its low cost and excellent mechanical properties. The best way to prevent acidic corrosion is by using proper acidic corrosion inhibitor. It has been 138found in many studies that organic compounds containing electronegative atoms, such as nitrogen, sulfur, oxygen phosphorus, unsaturated bonds are effective corrosion inhibitors. According to the literature, the corrosion inhibition behavior of organic corrosion inhibitors such as Schiff base and their derivatives in comparison with inorganic ones are further evaluated. The objective of the present study is to investigate the inhibitive properties of Schiff bases on the corrosion behavior of mild steel in acidic media. © 2023 Apple Academic Press, Inc.
