dc.description.abstractIn this study, the effect of particle size distribution on the adsorption of Pb and Cu heavy metals was investigated by using G.L.İ. Ömerler Coal Washing Plant's feed material, intermediate product and tailings. For this purpose, feed material and intermediate product were ground down to five different finenesses (d80=0,600, 0,355, 0,250, 0,106 and 0,063 mm) in nitrogen environment, and the tailings having the original d80 of 0,063 mm was separated into seven size fractions (-1+0,600, -0,600+0,355, -0,355+0,250, -0,250+0,106, -0,106+0,063 and -0,063 mm). Then, the samples were subjected to adsorption tests under the same experimental conditions. The test results showed that the optimum size for the adsorption of the two heavy metals was d80=0,063 mm for the feed sample, d80=0,106 mm for the intermediate product and its original size (d60=0.063 mm) for the tailings. Furthermore, It was determined that the tailings sample took priority with 9,30 mg/g and 7,69 mg/g metal adsorption capacity for Pb and Cu, respectively.
