Özet
Though motifs, which are the fundamentals of popular narratives, in general have universal nature, the ways and the reasons they appear are indeed of national nature. For the motif to make sense culturally, it must be widely disseminated in all narratives of the culture, must have subordinated motifs initiated by itself and finally must be associated with the norms and values of the culture. The dominating cultures either create their own motifs or modify others' motifs by totally adapting them to their own norms and values. From this point of view, the course and the instances of the motif of metamorphosis in Turkish narrations are evaluated in this work.
