The microcontroller based PLC which describes priority encoder macros is discussed. An encounter is circuit that changes a set of signals into a code. Encoders are used to reduce the number of bits needed to represent some given data either in data storage or in data transmission. A priority is assigned to each of the input lines so that when multiple requests are made, the encoder output the index value of the input line with the highest priority. There are six priority encoder macros. It can be seen that the output binary code is generated based on the highest priority input signal present in the eight input lines.
