The study was conducted on 105 Anatolian squirrel, Spermophilus xanthophrymnus (Rodentia: Sciuridae) in Nigde which is province of Turkey from April 2003 to August 2003. Trypanosoma lewisi and Babesia microli were detected in the blood smears of 5 and 2 squirrels, respectively. This study reports the presence of T. lewisi and B. microli in Anatolian squirrel in Turkey for the first time.

Compact Wilkinson Power Dividers Based on Narrow Slits Loaded Transmission Lines
(IEEE Computer Society, 2023) Karpuz, Ceyhun; Gorur, Ali Kursad; Cakir, Mehmet; Cengiz, Alperen; Gorur, Adnan
In this paper, a new approach based on the utilization of narrow slits to improve the return loss and isolation levels of the Wilkinson power dividers is proposed. 2-, 4- and 8-way power dividers are designed by using narrow slits on the quarter wavelength transmission lines. The proposed circuits are designed at the center frequencies of 2, 2.1 and 2.05 GHz. The fractional bandwidths (FBWs) for the return loss of better than 15 dB and isolation levels of better than 20 dB are 19.7%, 28%, 28.2 % for 2-, 4-, and 8-way power dividers, respectively. The proposed method can also reduce the circuit size about 25 % and more in the 2-way and 4-way (8-way) circuits, respectively. Three circuits have been fabricated and measured in a very good agreement with the simulated results. © 2023 IEEE.

Design of N-Way Wilkinson Power Dividers with New Input/Output Arrangements for Power-Halving Operations
(Mdpi, 2023) Karpuz, Ceyhun; Cakir, Mehmet; Gorur, Ali Kursad; Gorur, Adnan
In this paper, new single/double-layer N-way Wilkinson power dividers (WPDs) were designed by using slow-wave structures such as narrow-slit-loaded and meandered transmission lines. For size reduction, the slit-loaded and meandered lines were used instead of the quarter-wavelength transmission lines of a conventional WPD. Based on the proposed approaches, two-, four-, and eight-way power dividers were designed, simulated, and fabricated. The fabricated 2-, 4-, and 8-way circuits were measured at the center frequencies of 2.03, 1.77, and 1.73 GHz, which are in excellent agreement with the predicted ones. The meandered transmission lines were also used to design WPD types with novel input/output port arrangements. For this purpose, two three-way WPDs were located on both sides of the same board to have different power-splitting ratios at different inputs and outputs in order to provide alternative solutions for antenna arrays. Furthermore, a five-way dual-layer WPD was introduced by locating the meandered transmission lines into two layers. The most important advantage of the proposed 3- and 5-way WPDs is that they allowed the input power at the next output port to be halved, in the order of P/2, P/4, P/8, P/16, and P/16. All the designed power-halving WPDs were simulated, fabricated, and successfully tested.

Eimeria species (Apicomplexa: Eimeriidae) detected from the Anatolian ground squirrel, Spermophilus xanthophrymnus (Rodentia: Sciuridae) in Ni?de province, Turkey
(Chartered Inst. of Building Services Engineers, 2010) Çiçek, Hatice; Karatepe, Mustafa; Karatepe, Bilge; Cakir, Mehmet; Eser, Mustafa
Intestinal contents of 105 Anatolian ground squirrels (Spermophilus xanthophrymnus) caught from Ni?de province were examined to determine the types and prevalence of eimerian species. Eimerian oocysts were found in 27.6% of all the samples examined by sucrose-flotation. Four species were recovered from Anatolian ground squirrels, including Eimeria callospermophili (prevalence: 25.7%), E. morainensis (2.8%), E. pseudospermophili (1.9%), and E. lateralis (0.9%).

Synthesis, characterization, and histological activity of novel polydentate azo ligands and their cobalt(II), copper(II) and nickel(II) complexes
(SPRINGER, 2008) Tuncel, Mehmet; Kahyaoglu, Huelya; Cakir, Mehmet
We describe the synthesis and characterization of two novel azo ligands, 4,5-dihydroxy-3,6-bis(2-hydroxyphenylazo)-2,7 naphthalene disulfonic acid (H(2)L) and 4,5-dihydroxy-3,6-bis(2-hydroxy-4-sulfophenylazo)-2,7-naphthalenedisulfonic acid (H(2)L(1)). The Cu(II), Ni(II), and Co(II) complexes of these ligands were prepared and characterized by infrared, UV-Vis, (1)H- and (13)C-NMR spectra, atomic absorption spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, elemental analyses, thermogravimetric analysis, conductivity, cyclic voltammetry, and magnetic measurements. The results suggest that the complexes have a 2:1 (metal:ligand) molar ratio, involving binuclear azo ligands with an ONO donor set. Metal ion uptake studies were conducted with a batch technique. Preliminary histological studies were also made. The results indicate that the azo ligands have high thermal stability, good metal extraction capacity, and favorable dying properties with certain tissues.
