Öğe CHANGES IN STUDENTS' SOCIAL INTERACTIONS BETWEEN THE PERIOD PRIOR TO AND THE PERIOD OF PREPARATION FOR THE UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE EXAM(ISOSS PUBL, 2014) Kumandas, Hatice; Kutlu, Omer; Yildirim, OzenThe purpose of this study is to compare selected elements of students' social interactions during the period prior to beginning preparation for university entrance examination and during the period of preparation for that examination. Data was collected from 300 freshmen students at the Ankara University Faculty of Educational Sciences. The researchers developed and prepared the survey instrument. The findings of the study demonstrated that the level of students. social interactions were changing in terms of selected variables in the period prior to preparation for taking the university entrance examinations and during the preparation period for that examination. The students. relationship with their families, their engagement in school activities and participation in social activities decreased significantly.Öğe THE EXAMINATION OF TEACHER AND STUDENT EFFECTIVENESS AT TIMSS 2011 SCIENCE AND MATH SCORES USING MULTI LEVEL MODELS(ISOSS PUBL, 2014) Yildirim, Ozen; Demir, Safiye BilicanThis study examines the effects of teachers. and students. features on student's science and mathematics performance employing two level hierarchical linear models using data from TIMSS 2011 conducted with Turkish 8th graders and their science and math teachers. The results of the research showed a significant mutual impact on science and math scores due to student's confidence with lessons and teacher's career satisfaction. The study also revealed a relationship between students' performance, students' perception of science and science teachers' confidence related to their expertise. The impacts of mentioned variables were discussed and implications for further research were provided. © 2014 Pakistan Journal of Statistics.Öğe The Predictors of Elementary School Teacher's Attitudes towards Rubric(TURKISH EDUCATION ASSOC, 2014) Demir, Safiye Bilican; Kutlu, Omer; Yildirim, OzenThis study was determining the factors predicting the elementary school teachers' attitudes towards scoring rubrics. The study was a correlation research model. It included 292 teachers at 17 elementary schools in several districts of Ankara. The data of the study was collected from a teacher survey and "Teacher's Attitude Scale toward Rubric" which was developed by the researchers. Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis was used in the data analysis of the study to examine the variables which predicted the teachers' attitudes toward rubrics significantly. The results indicated that the most important predictors of attitude were to use rubrics in class to observe students' knowledge and skills whether they use them in their daily life situations and the class size.
