Özet
Destanlar doğrudan birer tarihî belge olarak kabul edilmeseler de, içinden çıktıkları toplumun tarihi, kültürü ve sanatı için önemli değerler barındıran eserlerdir. Geniş bir muhtevaya sahip olan Manas Destanı da son derece değerli bilgiler içerir. Bu destan, farklı açılardan ele alınmış olmakla beraber, müzikal anlamda incelemeye tabii tutulmamıştır. Oysa bir toplumun kültürel değerleri içinde müzik ve müziğe bağlı unsurlar büyük yer tutar. "Davul" Türk tarih ve kültüründe ayrıcalıklı bir yere sahiptir. Eğlence ve duyuru amaçlı çalınmasının yanı sıra, siyasî, askerî, dîni kullanım alanlarına da sahiptir. Türk milleti için son derece değerli olan davulun, Manas Destanı'na yansıma durumunu, göstergebilimsel açıdan tespit etmek bu araştırmanın temel amacıdır. Çalışmada Manas Destanı'nda "davul"un düz anlamının yanı sıra yan anlamları üzerinde yoğunlaşılmıştır. Toplumsal göstergebilim türüne dâhil edilebilecek araştırmada, Manas Destanı'nda "davul" çalgısının hangi şekillerde, ne gibi durumlarda kullanıldığı belirlenmiş; destanda "davul" kavramının soyut göstergeleri tespit edilmiş; göstergelerin toplum içinde nasıl bir kullanıma sahip olduğu irdelenmiştir.
Epics are not considered as directly as an historical document but they have very important values from history, culture and art. Manas Epic, which has wide content, provides extremely valuable information. This epic has examined in various fields, but it has not been studied in music area. However music and the elements related with music take very important place in cultural life. Drum has privileged status in Turkish history and Turkish culture. Drum has played for entertainment and announcement. Additionally it has used for political, military and religion purposes. The main aim of this research is determine that drum's status in Manas Epic in terms of semiotics. It has been focused on drum's denotations and connotations in this descriptive research that based on literature review. In this study which on the type of social semiotics; it has been determined that how often and in which situations drum is used in Manas Epic and it has been examined that what are the abstract meanings of drum in the society.
