This study contains mineralogical investigation of Quaternary aged Obsidians (Çiftlik ?Niğde) that belong to the Cappadocia Volcavic Province (CVP).Black obsidian is a typical product of Göllüdağ volcanism. This unit generally consists of tuff, tuffite, perlite, pumic, obsidian, rhyolite and andesite with acidic characteristic of volcanism products. In microscopic investigation of polished sections, pseudomorph pyrite with limonitised concentric shell in pure and semi-pure shape, iron hydroxsides that are rich in some parts of obsidians which colored the obsidians by oxidation, are frequently observed. In the microscopic investigation of thin section of obsidians, flow banding textures directed by direction of thin bar shaped zeolite and feldspar within the glassy groundmass and vitrophyric textures formed by microlite and phenocrystals were dominant. The obsidians consist of phenocrystals, microlites, sanidine, orthoclase, diopsite, biotite and perlite minerals found in groundmass formed by volcanic glass. From the analysis of Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) of Obsidians, salt (halite), and bor minerals, phenocrystals consisting of alkaline feldspar (orthoclase, sanidine and microline) biotite as silicate minerals and hematite as ore minerals have been determined. From the results of major element analysis of Central Anatolian obsidians, They it is understood that have been in rhyolitic composition and in the calc-alkaline character.Key words: Volcanic Province of Cappadocia, Göllüdağ, 0bsidian, perlite.
