In this study, the aerobic mesophylic microorganisms isolated from Salt Lake in Aksaray-Şereflikoçhisar region were investigated for their corrosive effects on stainless steel. Mixed culture were produced from these microorganisms under light and dark conditions. The corrosive behavior of stainless steel electrode has been determined by using electrochemical techniques. The electrodes were immersed into sterilized beakers containing medium and medium with microorganisms for 30 days under light and dark conditions. Electrochemical measurements were carried out at certain time intervals (4 hr, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 14, 21 and 30 days). While the corrosion measurements in the medium containing microorganisms, was carried out the amount of microorganisms was also determined spectrophotometrically. Under light and dark conditions the resistance values that were measured by empedance (EIS) and lineer polarization techniques (LPR) were found to be much superior in the medium containing microorganisms that those without microorganisms. However the semi logarithmic current-potential curves generally lower values for the medium containing microorganisms
