Bu makale Osmanlı sarayında ve devlet ricali arasında çok yaygın olan hediyeleşme ve hanedan mensuplarının hediyeleşme usullerini Sultan II. Bayezid?in şehzadelerine gönderdiği armağanları konu alan bir defteri inceleyerek tesbit etmektedir. Bu defter vasıtasıyla erken dönem Osmanlı hediyeleşme geleneği, hediye verilen eşyalar, lüks anlayışı, spor ve eğlence kültürü, giyim-kuşam alışkanlıkları, okuma kültürü ve okunan kitaplar, günlük kullanılan eşyalar, taşrada Osmanlı şehzadelerinin hizmet kadrosu, armağanların hangi görevliler vasıtasıyla gönderildiği gibi farklı konular hakkında bilgi edinmemiz mümkün olabilmektedir.
By examining a notebook that lists the gifts of Sultan Beyazit II (1481-1512) to his princes, this article reveals the methods and styles of gift exchange among the Ottoman dynasty members and state officials. The notebook provides rich information not only about the gift exchange tradition in the early Ottoman Empire but also the goods given as gifts, the Ottoman concept of luxury, entertainment and sport culture of the period, dressing fashion, reading culture and the books read, the daily objects used as well as the servant crew of the princes in Anatolia and the officers who delivered the gifts.
