Periodicals such as newspapers and magazines are the most important documents that shed light on the history and culture of a nation. Therefore, they offer study areas where researchers from different disciplines can access rich material. Journal of Turkish Literature, which is the source of our study, is one of the most important elements of this wide range of literary works in terms of culture and literature. The aim of the journal, which draws attention with its mission apart from its literary value, is to protect national consciousness and identity. The journal of Turkish Literature, which started to be published in January 1972, continues to meet the readers today by continuing its publishing activities. The period from January 1972 to January 1975 is known as the first period of the journal. In this long-term publication process, it only took a break from its publication life between March 1975 and January 1977. The period from 1977 to the present has been accepted as the second publication period of the journal. Our study covers the issues of the journal between 1981 and 1985. Journal of Turkish Literature is an intellectual and art journal that continues its publication life on a monthly basis. The political, social and economic conditions of the period in which it has been published do not change the course of the journal. Despite the changing political power and structures, it is a journal that has not given up its nationalist attitude. The journal also sheds light on our recent past by containing texts and ideas about the events that took place during the period it has been published. The study consists of three main parts. The first part is the "introduction" part. In this section, information about Turkish newspapers and journals is given. The journals published in this period and the events experienced are conveyed and the cultural structure that prepared the ground for Journal of Turkish Literature is revealed. In addition, the socio-cultural structure of the period when the publication of the journal began is mentioned. In the second part, chronological index and bibliographic information are given from the 87th issue of January 1981 to the 146th issue of December 1985. Afterwards, an alphabetical index was created according to the names of the authors. Literary genres such as panel discussion, memoir, survey, bibliography, biography, puzzle, translation, essay, anecdote, memoir, review, article, letter, story, chronology, interview, speech, poem, compilation, criticism, travel article, news article, interview, questions and answers, introduction, theater, fairy tale published in the journal are classified. In the third part, some poems published in the journal between 1981 and 1985 are analyzed in terms of content and form. As a result of the study, it is seen that Journal of Turkish Literature is one of the publication organs that best reflects its period with national consciousness and identity. It is possible to say that the magazine contains many materials about the political, social, literary and cultural life that has been lived since its publication.
