This study was carried out to determine the range of weed species in apple orchards in Niğde province (Center, Çamardı,Ulukışla, Bor, Çiftlik and Altunhisar) between 2006-2007 years. In apple orchards, 28 weed species from 87 different families were determined. The average density of weeds was found to be 101.8 plant/sq.m. The highest density of weeds being (132.3 plant/sq.m.) per meter square was find in Centrum in Niğde and this was followed by Çamardı (125.2), Ulukışla (97.1 plant/sq.m.), Bor (91.7 plant/sq.m.), Çiftlik (77.6 plant/sq.m.) and Altunhisar (77.2 plant/sq.m.). From the identified 87 weed species, one species was Pterydophyta, 11 species was determined as Monocotyledoneae and 75 species was Dicotyledoneae. According to distribution of the weed species per meter square, Agropyron repens (L.) P. Beauv., Alopecurus myosuroides Huds., Bromus tectorum L. and Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers. was found to be the most important species. Among the weed species recorded Agropyron repens (L.) P. Beauv was defined as the most common species with a frequency of 84.6%; followoed by Bromus tectorum L.( 72.2%), Alopecurus myosuroides Hudson (54.9%) and Dactylis glomerata L.( 49.2%) respectively.
