As a result of the increasing world population and technological developments, the intensive use of energy sources causes the depletion of resources and the increase of global warming. For this purpose, scientists have suggested the concept of carbon footprint in order to detect and minimize the damages caused by the consumption of resources, especially energy, around the world. Carbon footprint, which is a measure of the environmental damage of human activities, has been an important field of study in the last two decades. The tourism sector, which has an important place among human activities, includes high consumption activities in many different areas from energy to food. In this thesis study based on this, carbon footprint calculation was made by taking into consideration the areas where a five star hotel consumes the most. The sample hotel used in the thesis study has a 5-star and 1907 bed capacity in Antalya province. The hotel has been serving in Antalya for 12 months. By taking into account the electricity, water, LNG and diesel items, which are the most intense emission sources of the hotel, carbon footprint detection was made. The study has taken into account the last 5 years of consumption of the hotel. Although the carbon footprint varies in the last 5 years, an average emission of 5.3 tons per year is released into the atmosphere. In addition, in this thesis study, besides the determination of the carbon footprint, the necessary measures for its reduction are specified.
