Özet
Bu çalışma Niğde Yöresinde sığırlarda babesiosis'in prevalansım saptamak amacıyla yapılmıştır.
This study was carried out in order to determine the seroprevalence of babesiosis in cattle in Niğde. For this purpose, blood samples were taken from a total of 100 cattle that had lived thorough a minimum of one tick season before March 1998 and after January 1999 and been selected randomly from different localities. The sera from the blood samples of the 100 cattle were examined using the IFA test. According to the results of the IFA test, antibodies against B. bigemina were detected in 30 (30%) cattle and antibodies against B. divergens, in 1 (1%) bovine. No antibodies against B. bovis were found in the serum samples. Out of 31 seropositive cattle, 25 (80.6%) were animals grazed in the villages and 6 (19.3%) of the 31 seropositive cattle were from the official farm where tick control is regularly done. In the microscopic examination of peripheral blood smears, Babesia spp. were observed in 2 (2%) out of the 1OO cattle.
