Özet
Osmanlı Devleti eğitim ve kültür tarihi açısından Maarif Salnameleri çok önemli ve zengin kaynaklar arasındadır. Yapılan bu çalışmanın amacı Maarif Salnamelerinde yer alan bilgilerden faydalanarak Osmanlı Devleti döneminde önemli bir merkez olan Kayseri Sancağı'nda mektep ve medreselerin eğitim faaliyetleri, gayrimüslim ve yabancı okulların durumu, diğer okullara oranı gibi hususlara açıklık getirilmiştir. Okulların öğrenci sayıları istatistiki veriler halinde sunulmuştur. Okullardaki öğrenci sayılarından ve okul sayılarından hareketle Kayseri Sancağı'ndaki eğitim düzeyi ve eğitime bakışın nasıl olduğuna dair bir değerlendirme yapılmıştır. Okullarda eğitim veren hocaların kimler olduğu, hangi dersleri okuttukları gösterilmiştir. Kayseri Sancağı'nda eğitime verilen önem, eğitim seviyesi ve niteliği bu çalışma aracılığıyla konulmuştur. Yapılan bu çalışmanın sosyal bilimler açısından amacı ise okuyucuda millî kültür ve bilinç açısından bir farkındalık oluşturmaya çalışmasıdır. Zira eğitim alanında yapılan çalışmaların kendisinden önce yapılmış özgün çalışmalardan faydalanacağı bir gerçektir. Bu fikirden hareketle Türk Eğitim Tarihi ile ilgili faaliyetlere katkı sağlayacak veriler elde edilmeye gayret edilmiştir.
In terms of the educational and cultural history of the Ottoman Empire, the Education Yearbooks are among the very important and rich sources. The aim of this study was to make use of the information in the Education Yearbooks and to clarify the educational activities of schools and madrasas, the status of non-Muslim and foreign schools, and their ratio to other schools in Kayseri Sanjak, which was an important center during the Ottoman Empire period. The student numbers of the schools are presented as statistical data. Based on the number of students in schools and the number of schools, an evaluation was made on the level of education in Kayseri Sanjak and how the education was viewed. It is shown who the teachers who teach in schools and which courses they teach. The importance, education level and quality given to education in Kayseri Sanjak have been determined through this study. The aim of this study in terms of social sciences is to try to create an awareness in the reader in terms of national culture and consciousness. Because it is a fact that studies in the field of education will benefit from original studies done before it. Based on this idea, it has been tried to obtain data that will contribute to the activities related to Turkish Education History.
