Özet
Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, kültür ve medeniyet kavramlarının Cemil Meriç'in düşünce dünyasındaki karşılıklarını, yansımalarını incelemektir. Kültür ve medeniyet sosyal bilimlerde üzerinde çokça durulan ancak herkesi tatmin edecek tanımlarına ulaşılamamış, tarihsel süreçte yeni anlamlar kazanarak her geçen gün daha popüler hale gelen kavramlardır. Genel anlamda bireyin sosyal ve bilişsel yetişme düzeyi, kişiliğinin, duyarlılık düzeyinin olgunluğa ulaşması, toplumun yaşam tarzı, toplumsal yaşamın maddi-manevi bütün unsurları gibi anlamlar taşımaktadır. Medeniyet kavramı ise bilgi birikimi, teknik gelişme, maddi kültür unsurları, toplumsal mekanizma ve örgütlenmeler gibi olguları ifade etmek için kullanılmaktadır. Daha çok kültürün ileri hali, olgunluk hali gibi anlamlar içermektedir. Cemil Meriç, kültür ve medeniyet kavramları konusunda yaşanan kavram kargaşası içinde kendine özgü bir düşünüş ve yorum tarzı geliştirmiştir. O kültür ve medeniyet kavramlarının Batı zihniyetini yansıttığını ve Batı'nın bu kavramları tahakküm gücünü artırmak için düşmanlarına ihraç ettiğini düşünmektedir. Dolayısıyla Cemil Meriç kültür ve medeniyet yerine daha kapsayıcı daha anlamlı ve bize ait olan "İrfan" ve "Umran" kavramlarını kullanmayı tercih etmektedir. İki bölümden oluşan çalışmamızın birinci bölümünde kültür ve medeniyet kavramlarına ilişkin tanımlamalar, temel kavramlar incelenmiştir. İkinci bölümde ise öncelikle Cemil Meriç'in hayatı, şahsiyeti, üslubu ve Türk düşünce hayatındaki yeri ve önemi üzerinde durulmuştur. Daha sonra ise Cemil Meriç'in kültür ve medeniyet kavramları ve bu kavramlarla bağlantılı diğer kavram ve konulara ilişkin görüşleri incelenmiştir. Çalışmada teorik analiz yöntemi kullanılmış olup, materyal olarak Cemil Meriç'in eserleri başta olmak üzere kütüphane kaynakları ve veri tabanlarında mevcut olan tezler ve makaleler kullanılmıştır. The main purpose of this study is to examine the equivalents and reflections of the concepts of culture and civilization in Cemil Meriç's world of thought. Culture and civilization are the concepts that are highly emphasized in social sciences, but their definitions can not satisfy everyone , gaining new meanings in the historical process and becoming more popular with each passing day. In general, the social and mental formation of an individual has the meanings such as the maturity of his/her personality in terms of food, pleasure, sensitivity, the lifestyle of the society, all the material and spiritual elements of social life. The concept of civilization is used to express facts such as knowledge, technical development,material culture elements, social mechanisms and organizations. Mostly, It includes meanings such as advanced state, ripeness state of culture. Cemil Meriç has developed a unique style of thinking and interpretation about the concepts of culture and civilization in the confusion of concepts. He thinks that the concepts of culture and civilization reflect the Western mentality and that the West exports these concepts to its enemies to increase its power of domination. Therefore, Cemil Meriç prefers to use the concepts of "İrfan" and "Umran", which are more comprehensive, meaningful and belong to us, instead of culture and civilization. In the first part of our study, which consists of two parts, the definitions and basic concepts of the concepts of culture and civilization are examined. In the second part, especially Cemil Meriç's life, personality, style and place and importance in Turkish thought life are emphasized. Then, Cemil Meriç's views on the concepts of culture and civilization and other concepts and issues related to these concepts were examined. Theoretical analysis method was used in the study, and the theses and articles available in library resources and databases, especially the works of Cemil Meriç, were used as material.
