Effects of exogenous jasmonic acid (JA) and salicylic acid (SA) treatments of purple basil used in the food industry and traditional medicine were investigated. Purple basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) seeds were planted in pots containing peat and allowed to germinate in a plant growth cabinet at 25±2 °C, 16 hours light /8 hours dark photoperiod (1400 lux) and 65% humidity. When the seedlings reached the two-leaf stage, salicylic acid (SA) and/or jasmonic acid (JA) at different concentrations (0, 0.5 and 1 mM) were treated as foliar. Seedlings were harvested 15 days after the second application. Morphological measurements (root-shoot length, fresh and dry weight) and physiological-biochemical analyzes ((photosynthetic pigment, total protein, anthocyanin, total phenolic substance amounts and antioxidant activities (DPPH reactive scavenging capacity, Phenyl Ammonium Lyase enzyme activity, catalase activity) Root-shoot length, fresh and dry weights, photosynthetic pigment, anthocyanin and total phenolic substance amounts, DPPH scavenging, PAL and catalase enzyme activities increased in all application groups compared to the control group, while total protein amounts decreased. It was determined that externally applied SA and JA plant growth regulators positively affected the yield and quality of purple basil. Keywords: Anthocyanin, DPPH, Phenolic substance, Photosynthetic Pigment, JA, Carotenoid, PAL, Reyhan, SA
