Özet

This study has been carried out with the aim of determining the variables affecting the competitionresult in Vestel Venus Sultans’ League and forming statistical models by estimating the competition resultand transferring them to the packaged software. In the study, statistics of 132 competitions in Vestel Venuswoman volleyball league in 2016-2017 have been used. Within the scope of this study, variables affecting theteams’ winnings by evaluating 37 different variables as a result of analyses and expert opinion have beendetermined. The determined variables are the number of score taken from the attack per set, the receptionfault per set, the break point per set, the setter performance and reception point, respectively. The analyzes inthe study were carried out through statistical package programs (STATA 10 and SPSS). Before the detailedanalysis, the reliability of the measurements of the relevant data was tested with Cronbach's alpha coefficient.Factor Analysis was used to select the variables that were most significant for the main focus of the study, explaining the variability between the associated variables observed at the beginning of the study withpotentially fewer unobserved factors. After this selection, the logistic regression model was established andthe relevant model was evaluated with Cox & Snell and Nagelkerke R-squared values. For testing the significance of the model, the Hosmer and Lemeshow test was used and it was decided that the logisticregression using the stepwise forward sampling method was the most appropriate model. In the study, theclassification accuracy rate has been determined as 92.4%. It has been understood that the determined logisticmodel is suitable with 95% confidence level according to analysis result obtained in the study. It has beenevaluated how the variables in logistic model affect the activity level of teams’ competition winning. Inconclusion, the generated model has been adapted to the packaged software
