The tradition of singing with accompaniment has not been used in a desirable/anticipated way. While musical works with highly artistic position have been sang and tried to be sang in piano classes at the institutions where music teachers have been educated accompaniment or singing of school songs with accompaniment has been ignored in the professional musical scope, in educational music which is used in music education, and in the techniques and methods used. Accompaniment classes have not been carried out integrated with musical hearing and reading classes. No songs with accompaniment are covered in music course books, and supplementary music books usually cover songs without accompaniment. Existing school songs and marches and collection books have attracted the attention of neither the students of teaching music programs nor the music teachers. The main reason for that disinterestedness should be related with the education they have been given which is not adequate for the objectives. In addition, they think that they are not able to play the songs with accompaniment. Beside the discussion of these issues, this study contains; the history of accompaniment, basic rules of harmony available for the music teachers? use , the usage of accompaniment models with the harmonized songs, and sample accompaniment models.
