Özet
The capitalist mode of production, which sees natural resources and human labor as the elements in command of capital accumulation, tends to ignore the crises arising from its logic of operation. Policies followed in line with the mainstream economic approach, which focuses uninterruppted growth, have not only consumed natural resources, but also completely threatened the earth,which is our living space. The climate crisis and environmental pollution are the critical thresholds brought by warnings dating back half a century, and they are no longer a phenomenon to be managed and postponed by the system. This study focuses on the opportunities offered to humanity by the degrowth approach, which tries to put a new social design against the growth concept that has never lost its dominant position among the success and welfare criteria of capitalism. However, some observe that the degrowth approach did not create the necessary reflections for the peoples of the world and remained a kind of expert and activist sensitivity. It can be argued that the understanding of degrowth mostly stuck in a framework focused on “survival” rather than a strong emphasis and call for a struggle for the society to regain the positions it lost in the face of market forces. The degrowth movement can only represent a hope, a real call, after a rethinking process in which it will give effective answers to the question of “what should a new life and society be like”. © 2023, Yerel Yonetim Arastirma Yardim ve Egitim Dernegi.
