ÖZET GÜMÜŞLER (NİĞDE) BÖLGESİ MERMER YATAKLARI ÜÇOK Serap Niğde Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Jeoloji Anabilim Dalı Danışman : Yrd. Doç. Dr. M. Gürhan YALÇIN Eylül 2001, 106 sayfa Gümüşler Kasabası yakınlarında görülen Niğde mermeri özellikle Çalkama Tepe civarında yüzeylemektedir. Çalkama Tepe'nin yakın civarlarında da küçük boyutlu eski işletmeler bulunmaktadır. Bu inceleme de ele alman mermerler, Niğde Masifi içerisinde gözlenmektedir. Niğde Masifi Formasyonları yaşlıdan gence doğru sırasıyla Paleozoyik yaşlı Gümüşler, Kaleboynu ve Aşıgediği Formasyonlarıdır. Bu formasyonları Mesozoyik yaşlı Sineksizyayla Metagabrosu ve Üçkapılı Granodiyoriti boylu boyuna kesmektedir. Bu formasyonların üzeri uyumsuz olarak Senozoyik'e ait kristalli vitrik tüf ve Kuvateraer'e ait yamaç molozu - alüvyon ile örtülmüştür. İşletilmekte olan mermerler Gümüşler Formasyonu içerisinde yer alır. Gümüşler Formasyonu gnays, şist, mermer ve kuvarsitten oluşmaktadır. Kaleboynu ve Aşıgediği Formasyonlarında da mermer gözlenmektedir. Ancak bu formasyonlarda yapılan çalışmalarda mermerin blok vermediği ve fazla deforme olduğu anlaşılmıştır. SUMMARY MARBLE DEPOSITS OF THE GÜMÜŞLER (Nİ?DE) REGION ÜÇOK Serap Niğde University Graduate School of Naturel and Applied Sciences Department of Geological Engineering Supervisor : Assistant Prof. Dr. M. Gürhan YALÇIN September 2001, 106 pages Niğde marble deposits observed around the village Gümüşler crop out largely near the Çalkama summit where there used to be small scaled exploitations in the past. In this study, marbles investigated occur within the Niğde Massif that is consisted mainly of, from bottom to top, Gümüşler, Kaleboynu and Aşıgediği formations of Paleozoic age. Sineksizyayla Metagabbro and Üçkapılı Granodiorite of Mesozoic age cut through these formations. Entire complex is discordantly overlain by crystalline vitric tuffs of Cenozoic age with debris and alluvial deposits of Quaternary age. The Gümüşler Formation that is constituted by gneiss, schits, marble and quartzite hosts the subject marble deposits. Marble occurrences were also observed within the Kaleboynu and the Aşıgediği Formations. But investigations revealed that these marbles are highly deformed and do not yeild blocks in desired magnitudes. Key Words: Niğde marble, Marble, Gümüşler, Niğde IV
