ÖZET UZAKTAN EĞİTİM VE İNTERAKTİF MULTİMEDYA SİSTEMLERİ ALICI, Ramazan Niğde Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Elektrik-Elektronik Mühendisliği Anabilim Dalı Danışman : Yrd. Doç. Dr. Yusuf Erkan YENİCE Şubat 2002, 89 sayfa Bu çalışmada, uzaktan eğitim ve çokluortam uygulamaları değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı, dağınık bireylerin ucuz ve etkili eğitimleri için çokluortam destekli uzaktan eğitim sistemlerinin incelenmesidir. Çalışmada öncelikle uzaktan eğitim kavramı tanımlanmıştır. Sonraki bölümlerde uzak yerlerdeki sınıflan birleştiren video konferanslı sistemler ve daha sonra internete dayalı uzaktan eğitim sitemleri incelenmiştir. İnternete dayalı uzaktan eğitim sistemleri için iletişim alt yapısı, veri sıkıştırma yöntemleri, içerik oluşturma ve sunma için gerekli programlar ve bireyler arasında ki etkileşimi sağlayacak iletişim çeşitleri hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Son olarak internete dayalı ve çokluortam destekli uzaktan eğitim sisteminin mevcut alt yapı ile uygulanabilirliği değerlendirilmiştir. Yapılan inceleme ve değerlendirmeler sonucunda internete dayalı uzaktan eğitimin farklı mekanlardaki dağınık kullanıcılar için uygun olduğu görülmüştür. Bu sistemde çeşitli ağ iletişim araçları ile iletişimin sağlanabilmesine rağmen mevcut iletişim alt yapısı ile video/çokluortam konferansının yeterli düzeyde yapılamadığı da görülmüştür. The purpose of this work is to investigate multimedia-aided distance education systems for the education of scattered individuals cheaply and effectively. Firstly, the distance education concept is defined. Then, videconference systems which unite the classes at remote locations, and Internet-based distance educations systems are investigated. The communication infrastructure for Internet-based distance education systems, data compression methods, the program required for creating and presenting content, communication tools to facilitate communication and interaction among the individuals are reviewed. Finally, the feasibility of Internet-based and multimedia-aided distance education systems with the existing infrastructure is considered. As a result, it is found that Internet-based distance education is suitable for scattered learners; however, it seems that although adequate communications is provided with various network communication tools in this system, the video- and multimedia- conferencing cannot be exploited adequately with the existing communication infrastructure.
