Water pollution caused by industrial activities has become one of the most important environmental problems. Due to their large-scale production and widespread application, synthetic dyes cause considerable environmental pollution and constitute a serious risk factor to public health. Nowadays, removal of dye molecules from water sources has not only become a major environmental concern but also a necessity. In this study, a magnetic composite was produced from Cormus domestica (L) spach by chemical precipitation method and application of the magnetic adsorbent for the removal of a toxic azo dye, tartrazine, from aqueous solutions has been investigated. The effects of the parameters such as pH, initial dye concentration, adsorbent doses and contact time on the removal of the dye was studied. Reusability of low-cost magnetic adsorbent, which can be easily separated from water has been investigated.
