Özet
Seyahatnamelerde Malatya isimli bu çalışmamızda kuruluşu ilkçağlara dayanan Malatyabölgesinin seyahatnameler ışığında ilk yerleşim zamanından günümüze kadar tarihigelişimi, coğrafi ve demografik değişiklikleri hakkında bilgi verilmesi amaçlanmıştır.Giriş bölümüyle beraber toplam üç ana hattan oluşan bu çalışmamızda giriş bölümündeMalatya adının menşei, coğrafi konumu, akarsu ve gölleri, iklimi, tabii bitki örtüsü nüfusu,ekonomisi, yeraltı kaynakları, madenleri, sanayi ve ticareti, ulaşımı, turizmi, Malatya İli'nin tarihi gelişimi ve Malatya İli mimarisi hakkında genel bilgiler verilmiş bunlarresimlerle zenginleştirilmiştir.Birinci Bölümde; yerli seyyahlar' dan Katip Çelebi' nin Cihannümâsından, Evliya Çelebi'nin Seyahatnâmesinden ve coğrafyacı Ali Tanoğlu' nun Prof.Ernest Chaput ile birlikteyaptığı gezilerden aldığı notlardan faydalanılarak onların gözüyle Malatya ilinin etnografikyapısı Malatya halkının yaşam tarzı, yerleşimi ve tarihi hakkında çeşitli bilgiler verilmiştir.İkinci Bölümde; bölgeye gelen yabancı seyyahlardan olan Vital Cuinet, Ainsworth,C.Texier, Moltke, Frederick Burnaby, W.M.Ramsay, Johannes Schiltberger, JosaphatBarbaro, Strabon, Poujoulat, Simeon ve J.Brant' ın gözüyle şehir hakkındaki izlenimleri,geliş amaçları, Malatya' yı ele alış şekilleri hakkında bilgi verilmesi amaçlanmıştır.Sonuç bölümünde ise seyyahların yapıtlarında sadece gezdikleri yerleri geliş amaçlarıdoğrultusunda aktardıkları belirtilmiştir. Yazılış amaçları ne olursa olsun seyahatnamelerinşehir tarihi açısından önemi vurgulanmıştır.
In this study called `Malatya according to books of travels?, information about thefoundation, settlement,geographical features,demographic facts and development ofMalatya whose establisments dates back to the first age has been aimed to be given in thelight of historical sources.The study consists of three main chapters,one of which is introduction. In the introduction,the origin of word `Malatya? the geographical situation, rivers and lakes,naturalplantsandresources, climate,population, economy, transportation, tourism, industryand commerce,the historical developments, the architecture of Malatya have been obtainedand given with pictures and photographs.In the first chapter, the ethnographic structure, settlement, history, the lifestyle of thepeople of Malatya have been studied with the help of Katip Celebi?s Cihannuma, EvliyaCelebi?s Seyahatname and Ali Tanoglu?s and Professor Ernest Chaput?s travel notes.In the second chapter, the foreign travellers Vital Cuinet, Ainsworth, C.Texier, Moltke,Frederick Burnaby, W.M.Ramsay, Johannes Schiltberger, Josaphat Barbaro, Strabon,Poujoulat, Simeon and J.Brant `s observations, the reasons of their arrivals and handlingof Malatya are given.In the last chapter,the quotes of the travellers about the destinations are examined and it isemphasized that the books of travellers are important for the history of the city whatevertheir aim were.
