Özet
İnsan ve doğa arasındaki ilişkiyi konu alan çevreci ve ekolojik düşünceler insanlık tarihi kadar eskiyse de, esas anlamda çevreci yaklaşımların ve eko- lojik fikirlerin özellikle sanayi devrimi sonrasında yaşanan hızlı değişim ve dönüşüm sürecinin sosyal yaşam ve doğada yarattığı tahribata bir tepki ola- rak ortaya çıktığı söylenebilir. Ancak modern anlamda çevreci politikalar ve bir ideolojik kimlik olarak ekolojizm 1950’lerden sonra ortaya çıkmıştır. Sa- nayileşme ve kentleşmenin küresel düzeyde yaygınlaşmasının ve hızlı eko- nomik büyümenin yarattığı küresel boyuttaki çevre sorunları hem insan türü hem de üzerinde yaşadığı gezegenin geleceği konusunda endişeler yaratmış- tır. Bu bağlamda insan merkezli bakış açısı ile çevre sorunlarını reformist (ılımlı) yollarla çözmeye yönelen çevreci yaklaşımlardan farklı olarak, çevre (ya da doğa) merkezli bütüncül bir bakış açısı ve yeni bir ahlaki vizyon ile çevre sorunlarını radikal yollarla çözmeye yönelen yeni bir ideolojik hareket olarak ekolojizm ortaya çıktı. Bu çalışma ekolojik kimliğin ortaya çıkış sü- recini, bunda etkili olan unsurları ve kendisini diğer çevreci yaklaşımlardan nasıl farklılaştırdığını ortaya koymak suretiyle ekolojik kimliğin doğasını açıklamayı amaçlıyor.
Although environmentalist and ecological thought, which deal with the relati- onship between human being and nature, go back to the times immemorial, it can be said that environmentalist approaches and ecological ideas emerged as a reaction to the destruction in social life and in nature caused by rapid change and transformation process which occured as a result of endustrial revoulution. However, modern environmentalist politics and ecologism as an ideological identity emerged after 1950’s. Globalising environmental prob- lems, which have been created by the expansion of endustrialisation and ur- banisation to the global level and by the rapid economic growth, have rasied concern for the future of both human kind and our planet. In this context, differentiating itself from those environmentalist approaches, which tries to solve environmental problems in reformist methods with a human centric perspective, ecologism as a new ideological movement, which aims to solve environmental problems in radical methods with an environment (or nature) centric holistic perspective and with a new moralist vision, has emerged. This study aims to explain the nature of ecological identity by uncovering the process in which ecological identity has emerged, the factors which have been effective within this process, and the ways in which ecological identity have differntiated itself from other environmentalist approcahes.
