Öğe Application of solid-phase extraction for the preconcentration and separation of trace amounts of cobalt from urine(DUSTRI-VERLAG DR KARL FEISTLE, 2001) Soylak, M; Elci, L; Narin, I; Dogan, MA solid-phase extraction method using 4-(2-thiazolylazo) resorcinol (TAR) as chelating agent on Amberlite XAD-16 column has been used for separation/preconcentration of trace amounts of cobalt prior to its determination by atomic absorption spectrometry. Cobalt was retained on the Amberlite XAD-16 column at pH 6. Cobalt was desorbed from Amberlite XAD-16 by 1 M nitric acid in acetone. The effect of the various components of urine such as some anions and cations on the recovery of cobalt was also investigated. The method was applied to urine samples collected randomly selected six people living in Kayseri with satisfactory results (recovery > 95%; relative standard deviation 1 - 9%).Öğe Atomic absorption spectrometric determination of copper, cobalt, cadmium, lead, nickel and chromium in table salt samples after preconcentration on activated carbon(ACADEMIC PUBLICATION COUNCIL, 2001) Soylak, M; Narin, I; Elci, L; Dogan, MCopper, cobalt, cadmium, lead, nickel, and chromium contents of table salt samples were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry after preconcentration/separation on an activated carbon column as pyrocatechol violet (PV) complexes. The PV-metal ion complexes buffered to pH 6 were retained on an activated carbon column and were then eluted from the column with 1 M nitric acid in acetone. The effect of matrix ions on recoveries of the working elements was also examined. The recoveries of metal ions were in the range of 95-103%. The relative standard deviations (RSD) of the metal ion determinations varied from 2 to 9%.Öğe Atomic absorption-spectrometric determination of copper, cadmium, lead and nickel in urine samples after enrichment and separation procedure on an activated carbon column(DUSTRI-VERLAG DR KARL FEISTLE, 1999) Soylak, M; Narin, I; Elci, L; Dogan, MA sensitive and rapid chromatographic procedure which includes complexation of Cu, Ni, Cd and Pb with 1-(2-pyridylazo) 2-naphtol (PAN), adsorption of the metal-PAN complexes on the activated carbon column, and elution of metals with 2 M HCl in acetone, then determination of metal contents of the urine by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry has been established. The influence of major components of the urine samples, as interferents, was discussed. The method has been applied for the determination of Cu, Ni, Cd and Pb in urine samples collected from inhabitants living in Nigde City of Turkey with satisfactory results such as recoveries more than 95%, relative standard deviations 2 - 6% (n = 10) and detection limits under 60 ng/l.Öğe Determination of trace metal ions by AAS in natural water samples after preconcentration of pyrocatechol violet complexes on an activated carbon column(ELSEVIER SCIENCE BV, 2000) Narin, I; Soylak, M; Elci, L; Dogan, MA simple preconcentration method is described for the determination of Cu, Mn, Co, Cd, Pb, Ni and Cr in water samples by flame AAS. Trace metal ions in water were sorbed as pyrocatechol violet complexes on activated carbon column at the pH range of 4-8, then eluted with 1 M HNO3 in acetone. The effect of major cations and anions of the natural water samples on the sorption of metal ions has been also investigated. The concentration of the metal ions detected after preconcentration was in agreement with the added amount. The present method was found to be applicable to the preconcentration of Cu, Mn, Co, Cd, Pb, Ni and Cr in natural water samples with good results such as R.S.D. from 3 to 8% (N = 10) and detection limits under 70 ng. 1(-1). The method was optimized for several parameters, including buffer pH, matrix, and type of the membrane. The investigated analyte ions were collected on cellulose nitrate membrane filter as their 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ) (oxine) complexes. Then membrane filter was dissolved by using small amounts of concentrated nitric acid.,The levels of copper, iron, cobalt, and cadmium ions in the final solutions were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The recoveries of analytes were generally in the range of 94-102%. No influences have been observed from the matrix of the natural water samples. The presented procedure was applied for the determinations of analyte ions contents of natural waters, some ammonium salts, and microwave digested black tea samples with satisfactory results. The relative standard deviations of the determinations were below 9%. The method was verified by the analysis of two reference standard materials (GBW 07309 stream sediment and NRCC-SLRS-4 Riverine Water).Öğe Preparation of a chelating resin by immobilizing 1-(2-pyridylazo) 2-naphtol on amberlite XAD-16 and its application ' of solid phase extraction of Ni(II), Cd(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Pb(II), and Cr(III) in natural water samples(MARCEL DEKKER INC, 2003) Narin, I; Soylak, M; Kayakirilmaz, K; Elci, L; Dogan, MA polystyrene divinylbenzene resin (Amberlite XAD-16) functionalized by 1-(2-pyridylazo) 2-naphtol has been synthesized and its sorption properties have been investigated for preconcentration of Ni(II), Cd(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Pb(II) and Cr(III) in natural water samples. The new resin (XAD-16-PAN) was characterized by thermogravimetric analysis and infrared spectrometry. The analytical parameters including pH, sample volume etc. for the quantitative recoveries of the analyte ions using XAD-16-PAN resin were investigated. The effects of alkaline, earth alkaline ions and some anions on the sorption of analyte ions were also examined. The recovery values were greater than 95% and the preconcentration factor was 200 for all analyte ions. The relative standard deviations of the determinations by flame atomic absorption spectrometry were less than 8%. Following washing of the XAD-2000 column with blank solution, metal-chelates were eluted by I M nitric acid in acetone and determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The influences of some analytical parameters including pH, amounts of PAN, sample volume, also effects of concomitant ions were investigated. The procedure was applied to sea water samples collected from Mersin Bay-Mediterranean Sea with satisfactory results (recoveries > 95%, relative standard deviations < 9%).Öğe Speciation of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in tannery wastewater and sediment samples on Ambersorb 563 resin(MARCEL DEKKER INC, 2002) Narin, I; Soylak, M; Kayakirilmaz, K; Elci, L; Dogan, MA simple method has been established for speciation of chromium(III) and chromium(VI) in natural water samples. The method is based on the solid phase extraction of the Cr(VI)-APDC chelate on the Ambersorb 563 carbonaceous resin filled mini-column. After oxidation of Cr(III) to Cr(VI) by using H2O2, the method was applied to the determination of the total chromium. The level of Cr(III) is calculated by difference of total chromium and Cr(VI) concentrations. The influences of the various analytical parameters including pH, amounts of reagents, sample volume on the quantitative speciation values of chromium were investigated. Recoveries of more than 95% were found. No interferences due to major components of the natural water samples and some metal ions were observed. The detection limit based on the 3sigma criterion was 2.70 mug/L for Cr(VI). The presented method was applied for the speciation of the chromium in the tannery waste-water samples from Bor Organized Industrial Region-Nigde (Turkey) with satisfactory results (recoveries >95%, RSD's < 9%).Öğe Trace enrichment and atomic absorption spectrometric determination of lead, copper, cadmium and nickel in drinking water samples by use of an activated carbon column(MARCEL DEKKER INC, 1997) Soylak, M; Narin, I; Dogan, MA simple method for atomic absorption spectrometric determination of lead copper, cadmium and nickel in drinking water samples after preconcentration by sorbing 1-(2-pyridylazo) 2-naphthol (PAN) complex of these metals on an activated carbon column has been established. The metal/PAN complexes were quantitatively retained on the activated carbon in the pH range 6-8. Metals retained on the activated carbon column were completely eluted with 2M HCl in acetone. Trace element contens of the soil samples collected from the five stations of Nigde City were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometer. Relations between metal contents and between number of vehicle and metal concentrations were calculated.
