Özet
Aksaray eski bir yerleşim biriminin üzerinde olmakla birlikte, Türkler tarafından adeta yeniden kurulan bir Selçuklu şehridir. Diğer şehirlerde olduğu gibi şehrin kuruluş ve gelişmesinde cami/mescid ve tekke/zaviye gibi yapıların oldukça önemli olduğu bilinmektedir. Şehrin Karamanoğulları zamanında da gelişmesini sürdürdüğü görülmektedir. Söz konusu eserlerden şehrin Karamanoğulları devrindeki gelişimi ve iskanın seyri kısmen tespit edilebilmektedir.
Aksaray is virtually a re-established Seljuk city although being on an old settlement. It is known that, as it is in other cities, construc­tions like mosque/masjid and tekke/small dervish lodge are quite important in the establishment and development of the city. The city is seen to have maintained its development in also the Karamanoğullan period. The devel­opment of the city in Karamanoğullan period and the course of settlement can partly be determined through the works mentioned.
