This study was aimed to reveal the structural and economic impact of the national sheep and goat breeding project in the Akkaraman sheep breeding farms. The main material of the study consisted of the primary data collected in through questionnaires from totally 108 farms, including 54 farms participated to project and 54 farms not participated to project in the Central and Bor districts of Niğde province. As a result of the study, the average production cost per one AU in the farms participated to the project was found as 3291.53 TL, and in the farms not participated to the project was found as 4159.39 TL. Net profit per one AU in the farms participated to the project was found as 3568.61 TL, and 2108.01 TL for the the farms not participated to the project. The "Counterfactual Impact Analysis (Propensity Score Matching)" method was used to reveal the net effect of the support provided within the scope of the project on the gross profit and lamb mortality rate in the farms. According to average treatment effect (ATE) results, average gross margin per farm acquired if all farms would participate to the project was 6209.13 TL more than gross margin acquired of the circumstance that none of the farms would participate to the project. Similarly, it is determined that the lamb mortality rate of participated farms to the project would be 3.47% less than the not participated farms. Keywords: Sheep breeding, Niğde, propensity score matching, small ruminant supports.
