Özet

Mentoring in teacher training is a process in which the pre-service teacher is supported by an experienced teacher to ensure his/her professional and personal development. A positive mentoring process has professional and psychological contributions to both the mentee and the mentor. In this respect, the effectiveness of the mentoring process should be considered. Mentor and mentee are important elements in the effectiveness of the mentoring process. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the characteristics that the mentor and the mentee should have and the roles they should perform for an effective mentoring process and to evaluate them in the context of pre-service teacher training. This study, which is a traditional review type, was carried out by literature review. National and international literature on the subject has been examined. In the study, it was determined that for an effective mentorship, both the mentor and the mentee should be willing to participate in the mentoring process. It has been determined that for an effective mentoring process, both the mentor and the mentee should have some personal and professional characteristics. It has been determined that both the mentor and the mentee perform different roles that are related to each other in the mentoring process. In addition, studies have revealed evidence that some practice teachers and pre-service teachers are not sufficient in terms of the characteristics they need to have and the roles they need to perform for an effective mentoring process.
