The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the historical environment knowledge of secondary school students. A descriptive scanning model was used for this purpose in the study. The study group of the research consists of 404 students studying in four secondary schools affiliated with Niğde Provincial Directorate of National Education in the spring semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. In the study, an 18-question four-option multiple-choice test and a 10-question matching achievement test were prepared and applied in order to measure the historical environment knowledge of secondary school students (Niğde example). As a result of the research, Alaaddin Mosque, Gümüşler Monastery, Bahçeli Roman Pool and Hudavend Hatun Tomb, among the historical buildings in Niğde, were the historical environments that the students in the study group were most familiar with; Hatıroğlu Fountain, Çelebi Hüsameddin Mosque, Cullaz Street and Kesikbaş Tomb are the least known historical sites. Again, according to the results of the research, female students' historical environmental knowledge is higher than that of male students; 5th grade students' historical environment knowledge is significantly higher than 6th grade students. As a result of the research, it was seen that the historical environment knowledge of the participants did not lead to a significant difference according to the education level of the father and mother. This study revealed secondary school students' historical environmental knowledge through descriptive scanning; It may be suggested to conduct experimental studies to improve students' historical environmental knowledge.
